ASD and PIP

Hello All,

It's been a while since I've posted, it's nice to be back.

I am undergoing assessment for ASD as it has been pointed out to me recently that I may be autistic.  It's rather an adjustment thinking about this and the more I research and read about it, the more I realise that it could well be the case.

Anyway, I wonder if anyone can help me with some queries about PIP:

1) I already get PIP for anxiety and depression (Due to end Jan 23) and I wonder if anyone has any experience of claiming PIP for Autism? I struggle in many areas of life, particularly socially, planning and making journeys, eating properly and budgeting.
2) is anyone aware of the discussion around Autism coming under a new category of PIP awards that will not be routinely re-assessed? Anyone have any information on that?
3) is there still hep available for people who struggle to fill out forms for PIP?
4) Any advice on taking someone with you to pip assessments who can hep you answer questions, as I routinely forget important points as I get pretty overwhelmed by the whole thing.

Thanks guys.

Lots of people claim PIP because of the way their ASD affects them but it's not awarded based on a diagnosis. As you already have an award of PIP anyway, the diagnosis will not change that.
I've not heard of any changes regarding no further reassessments for those with ASD. The longest PIP award you can have is 10 years ongoing with a light touch review.
There are advice agencies out there that will help you fill out the forms. Start here. https://advicelocal.uk/
You can take anyone with you to the assessment but unless they are your appointee then you will be expect to speak for yourself.
