You can ask for a telephone assessment, which you yourself can answer all questions on his behalf. If a face to face assessment is needed then he would need to attend with you but you can answer all questions on his behalf, with the exception of a few questions at the end of the assessment, he would be expected to answer those himself.0

thanks for your reply , I know he wouldn’t attend a face to face so what would happen if he didn’t go, I would attend but he definitely wouldn’t, ( surly they couldn’t expect someone with such anxiety issues to attend, that’s cruel & would cause such unnecessary stress & anxiety to someone already struggling in life ,0

I gave some advice which was found to be helpfull with regards to mental health and attending face to face assessments. You might find it useful also if you require it. The forum post and discussion link is here https://forum.scope.org.uk/discussion/comment/582113

I believe the majority of assessments are still through telephone so ring them to ask for this.0

I always fill my daughters in as if i'm her, i'm her appointee. You also need to make sure that you sign it, not your son.

My son wouldn't go to a face to face and he had a telephone appointment. He confirmed at the beginning he was there. As his appointee I answered most questions, however during the hands free call my son was wandering around and complaining sometimes interrupting saying "why do I have to do this, how long is it going to take " He eventually walked off saying he was done and left the room. I explained to assessor he had gone we finished off the conversation without him . They did ask if I could get bim back to explain what will happen next he just said I don't care you just sort it. He received daily living at lower rate.
Hope this helps0 -
