Bean bag chair

Hi everyone,
my wife has an array of conditions stemming from talipes (club foot) it’s causing her loads of pain recently and walking is causing pain in her hips, back and leg.
this pain stays with her now when she sits so she can’t get comfortable without pressure or pain somewhere.

I want to get her a bean bag chair but they are either comically small or comically expensive.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for bean bag chairs or similar seating that won’t cause pressure. I’ve tried charity shops but I have not found any.
Thank you

Ouch, my sympathy for your wife. Look around local online sites for your freecycle, or nextdoor, or similar, and ask. One possibility is putting a bean bag onto another seat, because if her joints are already annoyed, they won't want her getting up from an old fashioned bean bag on the ground!
But do you have to have a bean bag, because for one thing it is simply a cloth container for polystyrene packing balls, so you might make your own.
For another thing, you might be able to improvise a thick natural sheepskin or two on top of a 'throne' of wheelchair cushions (or sofa cushions) Wheelchair users or bed-fast patients with pressure sores find sheepskin is bliss. The advantage of that if you can contrive it, is that it is what hospitals have done for centuries and it won't 'off-gas' hidden fumes into your house, which plastic does.0 -
Just thought of another possibility. There are soft squidgy mattress toppers which are extremely comfortable for people who can't get comfortable. You may already have one, or could do with one anyway for the bed, so you could experiment with somehow folding it or just putting one layer over the sofa your wife wants to sit or lie on. If it works a treat, you could get a double for the bed and a single for the sofa (And cover it with a throw to match other furniture. A good choice is dead cheap cotton throws, in herring bone pattern and with a fringe, so it looks upholstery-ish, but is really easy to wash and dry)0

Thanks for the advice0

I'm not sure that a bean bag type of anything would help here. I would think that, that would be very difficult to get out of, if she has difficulties pulling herself up.Have you thought about a recliner chair? This maybe a better option. When she reclines it, it may help for a short while to move into different possitions.I have pain in the bottom of my spine and in my right hip and have had this for many years. My sofa is a recliner and i think that helps me so much. If i didn't have it then getting comfortable would be a lot more difficult. I often see people selling these types of chairs on places like Facebook and gumtree. Maybe you can have a look on there.0
