Hi there, a little confused with how this works. I began sending fit notes in in may and was referenced to the assessment pretty soon after that, but it took ages to actually get the app. Anyway, finally got the assessment in November and got the decision within days.
My assessment period is 31st-29th and payment date is the 5th, I was awarded the lcwra on the 21st November. Now will I receive my first payment on the 5th dec as it took 6 months to get the app, or will it be January 5th?

Also will it include the back payment and when do they back pay to?
If you need any more info to help, please ask.

The LCWRA is payable for the fourth assessment period after you reported your health condition. Depending on what date in May you reported your health condition the LCWRA will be payable from the August to Sept or Sept to October AP. (The latter will only apply if you reported on 30th May, any other date in May will be the former.)
You should check your next statement to check that it is included.
Arrears will be paid separately but can take several weeks for UC to calculate this.1 -
My first fit note exact date was 11th may.0

That means your waiting period will be May to Aug. The LCWRA starts from AP August to Sept and first payment would be Oct 5th. Up to now they owe you for Oct and Nov LCWRA element.

Hi all
I know this has probably been asked loads of times but...
I provided my first fit note in Feb this year and onto got my assessment last Thursday. She told me I'd hear in a few weeks and when I asked what she meant, she replied "you will be told that you no longer need to provide sick notes". She said decision not up to her but she can't see why I won't be awarded. I have complex PTSD and chronic pain syndrome (amongst other things). Assessment was an emotional one, and she never asked me many questions really.
So what element will I be awarded? LWCRA? And what does this mean exactly, long term "sick"?. I'm so confused by it all. How long for back payment and what's an assessment period? I've been waiting and nagging for this since Feb. Taken way to long I think.
Thank you 😊0 -
@SD84 No one here can tell you what the decision will be, only a decision maker can decide that. The person that did the assessment was correct, you will not need to send any further fit notes, regardless of what the decision will be.
Once the decision is made a letter will be uploaded onto your journal. If found to have LCWRA you’ll receive extra money from the 4th month after you reported your health condition.
At this moment in time it’s impossible to speculate anything. A decision can take up to 12 weeks.1 -
Thank you. So another long wait then.vthanks for your help I'll try put to the back of my mind now assessment is out the way. 😊0

You are welcome @SD84. It is the very least you deserve.
It sounds frustrating that you have another long wait. Is there anything, in particular, that might help this to be more manageable for you at the moment?
Please don't hesitate to let us know if there's anything we can do to support you. We are all here for you and listening to you

Hi thank you for checking in ☺️ I've not heard anything. I also think they've been taking money for over a year for the very first advance when I first signed up to UC. I've asked on my journal for a breakdown of everything they're taking money for. Health wise I'm in a lot of pain today and getting nowhere with "pain management". GP just says he's referred me and everything is just a long wait isnt it?0

Hi
How long after I'm awarded will I be paid/backpaid please? I was awarded this afternoon. Thank you (sorry if I'm posting inw ring place it's hard to see on my phone.0 -
You should get extra money in the next payment. The arrears take longer because UC have to recalculate your entitlement to previous months and then compare it with what they paid you. Itmaytake a few weeks.SD84 said: How long after I'm awarded will I be paid/backpaid please? I was awarded this afternoon.0 -
Any money owed will be paid separately to you usually monthly money. It often takes a few weeks, sometimes longer to pay anything that's owed.
