It's getting towards that time of year again, I'm curious to know if you have any favourite festive smells?

One of mine is the smell of waffles and mulled wine at the Christmas Market!

That sounds lovely @woodbine I hope you enjoy heading out :)

There's definitely a food or tree theme going on here!

Pine smell of a real tree is lovely but I saw a four foot one yesterday for fifty pounds! That means I’ll stick with my trusty synthetic one ...again.

That's expensive @leeCal, and synthetic does mean less to tidy up, so that's a plus too :)

If you shop around you can get a real tree for a reasonable price. We get a 5 or 6 foot one for £20 each year but it comes from a muddy warehouse in a field, not a fancy garden centre!

Cinnamon is my Xmas smell. Unfortunately I have forgotten why, so cannot explain!

What a bargain @66Mustang and thanks for sharing your tip with us too @Sandy_123, now we can all find cheaper trees!

I agree with you that the Christmas lunch cooking is one of the best smells @Grinchy and @leeCal and anything that reminds me of Christmas lunch!

Do you have any favourite Christmas-scented candles? I am curious! Cinnamon sounds great @Steve_in_The_City

@Ada Do you have any more natural smells that you particularly like or that remind you of Christmas?

Please note, I agree with @Grinchy - this is a wonderful thread. I am looking forward to seeing what everyone else adds to this thread  :)

While I agree on both counts, as a real tree in Tesco's by us start around £30 for a 3/4 foot.  Advantages:  The lovely pine smell through the house, keep it watered means you can plant them when done in the pot for next year and watch it grow year by year, until you can't lift it anymore and decorate it without door lights.  Synthetic:  No Smell, and yes they do loose tinsel ours seems to be worse than the real because the kids keep rearranging the Baubles and lights, and the new dog's first Christmas thinks why are you hanging all my toys on a bush?   Each day empty his basket.  and as a foot note I was in the Attic on the weekend and of all the bags up there to put my hand on I found the other leg off the Christmas tree, so on went the leg out went the two bricks, and balance was restored in the OBV Household......
