LCWRA backdated money

Hey there, firstly I just want to say thank you for all the information I’ve sought out via the forum regarding many matters with DWP. It’s helped massively so thank you. It was just a quick query I was hoping someone could shed light on.
Basically I’ve started getting my extra money from LCWRA from December 1st. I handed my first sick note in on July 28th. I’ve been consistent until told not to hand anymore sick notes in apon my LCWRA award. I was curious when I would receive back pay so I messaged an agent in my journal to which I was told no back pay would be received because the first three assessment periods were merely to “gather information” I rang DWP, and the women on the phone said that the guidelines were that claimants should be paid from when they first notified DWP about their health condition. I.E handed in their first sick note. I asked for a mandatory reconsideration letter to which she filled out on my behalf. She said I would hear back from my case manager tomorrow and they would send it off to a decision maker to have a look at.
Has anyone els had a similar problem? I’ve heard that DWP don’t initially want to cough up the backdated money until it’s persevered by the claimant via mandatory reconsideration letter. If this is the case that’s shocking, can you imagine how many people don’t fight for their back pay to which they’re actually entitled to!
Any feedback or personal experiences would be awesome to hear about. Best regards
Jamie

The first person you spoke to is correct. Although the LCWRA starts from when you first reported your health condition, there's a full 3 month assessment period waiting time and the extra money is then paid from the 4th month of your claim. It's not paid at all during the waiting period. What date do you usually receive your money each month?

Thanks Poppy, so no back pay at all from LCWRA? I’m usually paid on the 1st of each month0

Your assessment periods are for around 25th to 24th of the month. If you reported on 28th July then you reported your condition in July to August assessment period. The waiting period is August to November and the first payment is due on 1st January.
As they have told you that you are entitled to be paid on 1st December suggests you reported your health condition sooner than 28th July.0 -

With what? They weren't entitled to any money owed for LCWRA because it's not paid at all during the waiting period. Their first payment wasn't due until 1st December 2022.
