Hi. New to scope, I won my tribunal 3 years ago after a very lengthy battle which was awarded for 5 years by tribunal with back pay, and has been life saving for me.
I’m really struggling to get any info about what I do next, it runs out in august 2023 and I heard that dwp like to renew 1 year in advance but I’ve had nothing so far, I’ve heard you can’t renew if you had a tribunal win and has to be a new claim, I really don’t know what I’m supposed to do and I’m obviously worrying what my next steps to do are given wait times are increasingly getting worse

Hi and welcome to the community
You should get a letter about 14 weeks b4 your award is due to end informing you to reapply
However because claims are taking so long you might want to contact pip earlier to start the process
Take note that the new decision will take effect once it is made even if it's is b4 your current claim ends0 -
I just called as I’m very worried about and was told it has been extended to 2024? I asked do I need to reapply and was told no you will be sent a renewal out.Being the last 6-7 years of dealing with dwp have always been horrendous to me. or making me feel I’m a liar ect I can never trust what they say.0

It sounds really difficult that you are feeling really worried @worrier247. Would anything, in particular, help this to feel more manageable for you at the moment?
I can hear difficult it has been the last 6-7 years of dealing with DWP. Please don't hesitate to let us know if we can do anything to support you.
We are all here for you and listening to you. You don't have to face this, or anything else, alone if you don't want to.
Take care for now and we will look forward to, hopefully, hearing from you again soon0 -

You were told that your PIP has been extened to 2024 so there's no need to ring them yet. You will be contacted nearer the time (though an extended awarded doesn't mean you won't still be contacted around the time your PIP was supposed to end)

Yes under normal circumstances when awarded by a Tribunal then DWP usually contact you about 14 weeks before the award is due to end. It's far from normal circumstances at the moment because backlogs are huge and have been for the last couple of years.Awards are being extended because of the backlogs and even those that were awarded by a Tribunal are having their awards extended. We have members here that were awarded by a Tribunal and have had their awards extended.0
