Has ‘A Christmas Carol’ been overdone?

Tomorrow as December begins, I’ll start the Christmas books in my ‘to be read’ pile. But one book I always re-read is A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. I had a friend say to me, why? And I suppose they are right, I could always watch one of the many films, tv shows or Christmas Specials.

With the newest Apple TV holiday movie 'Spirited' retelling A Christmas Carol once again, in a modern way. It made me wonder, has A Christmas Carol been overdone?

A christmas carol is a firm favourite of mine, i love it in all its forms, so i would say no, the new spirited musical is well worth a watch

I love it, but I could see the argument that it has been done a lot.

I wonder what kind of new Christmas story will be the go-to for Christmas specials, say, 100 years from now?

I love Octavia Spencer, so spirited is definitely on my to watch list this December :)

It is really intriguing to think about what kind of new Christmas story will be the go-to for Christmas specials, say, 100 years from now @Hannah_Scope

I would be interested in hearing your thoughts on this as well as the thoughts of anyone else who wishes to share  :)
