Could you join Scope's Research Panel?

Scope’s research panel allows disabled people to use their expertise and lived experience to help Scope in achieving equality for disabled people.
About the panel
The insight we gain from our panellists allows us to create and improve Scope services and campaigns. Some projects also run in partnership with other organisations, which means that panellists improve services and products outside of Scope too.
Projects you can take part in range from surveys, to focus groups, to testing content (for example, advice pages). You can choose what to take part in, and a lot of our sessions can take place online. Most of the time, panellists will receive ‘panel points’ to thank them for their time and effort. You can find out more about this on the panel website.
If you are interested in the research panel, you can find out more on the panel website page ‘how the panel works’ or you can email any questions to researchpanel@scope.org.uk.
Lots of people are welcome to join the panel. You only need to be age 16+ and:
- Be disabled or have an impairment, condition or access need
- Or be a parent of a child that is disabled or has an impairment, condition, or access need
How to join
If you want to sign up straight away, you can! Go to the panel website main page, and register for an account. Once you have registered for an account, and completed the registration survey, you are a panellist. We will contact you with any projects we think might interest you (if you opt in to hear from us), and you’ll be able to check the research portal for new projects too.
Please feel free to share our contact information, or the panel website, with anyone you know who might be interested too.
Thank you,
Anne and Caleb

Thanks for sharing this with us @Alex_Scope. I am already a part of Scope's research panel!
If anyone has any questions they would like to ask please feel free to. We are all here for and listening to each other0 -
Hello I would like to help the community and join the research panel. However I don’t meet the criteria- I have a hearing impairment but am not registered disabled. I am a FT carer for elderly mobility impaired parent and have been involved in inclusive design research for many years- gladly participate if my input would be of use, Rachael0

Thank you for the advice. I have just sent an e-mail to check whether the criteria ‘parent with a disability’ is for some whose parent has a disability (my mother is disabled) or the parent of a child with a disability.0
-
From my experience @Rachael5678, it could mean either - albeit different research opportunities for each.
Additionally, you don't need to be registered as disabled to identify as disabled. You can email researchpanel@scope.org.uk for more information.
Do you feel your hearing impairment makes it more difficult to do things day to day and has lasted for 6 months(+) or otherwise identify as disabled?
You might be more eligible than you believe you are. I am sure your contribution will be more valuable than you believe1 -
I've passed your email onto Caleb @Rachael5678
But, as L_Volunteer has said, there are plenty of opportunities to take part. So I'm sure you'll be able to find one that's right for you!

We will contact you with any projects we think might interest youI think I’ve heard once! I was expecting something more regular.1

I think it is the fair sharing of opportunities, unfortunately @leeCal. Not least as I agree with you and wish it was more regular!1

The above info does not clarify that cannot be on the Research Panel if you are a member of Scope.1

I agree with @daz2 in that it should be made clear that you cannot be both a Scope member & an active member of the Research panel. As a member of the Research panel, you shouldn't also be a Scope member either @L_Volunteer . I didn't receive an email about this but became aware because of daz2 & have therefore just ceased being a Scope member.0

I have since stopped being a research panelist @chiarieds! I have gained more insight since and this isn't something I was previously aware of0

Is there opportunity paid?0

If I join, will I be 'assimilated' into Scope (that's a Star Trek thing)? will I retain my identity as a human?0
