Hello ive read up on many discussions about this topic and im still unsure if im entitled to any backpay.
Ive been awarded LCWRA on 28th November 2022. My payments for universal credit is on 15th each month.
My first sick note was uploaded onto my journal on 15th July 2022 and was confirmed by universal credit 19th July 2022.
On the 22nd July had a letter on my journal saying i need to fill out a questionnaire for a medical assessment which will be sent out to me to fill out and return.
I received the questionnaire and i sent it back on 26th july. Then i waited to hear back and i had a phone call on 17th November 2022 for the assessment. I had the assessment and found out on 28th I've been successfully awarded LCWRA. My first payment is due on 15th December 2022.
My first sick note was 15th July 2022 till 9th September 2022
Second sick note was 9th September 2022 9th December 2022
Any information would b a great help 🙂

Did you report your health condition on the same date as your fit note? If so then your waiting period will be Aug/Sept, Sept/Oct, Oct/Nov...LCWRA starts from assessment period 9th Nov to 8th Dec and your first payment will be 15th Dec. No LCWRA element is owed. This is because there's a full 3 month assessment period waiting time and the LCWRA element is paid from the 4th month after you reported your health condition/sent your first fit note. It's not paid at all during the waiting period.1
