Old fashioned things you still do or use

Someone made a post that they still use a Filofax which I found really interesting. It made me think that computers have replaced them but that the old fashioned method of using a Filofax had far more character and was more interesting.
It made me want to ask people, do you use any product or have any particular habit that is considered old fashioned, or that has been replaced by something modern, yet you stick with the traditional variant?
I use a crystal decanter to store my whisky and brandy. I am aware that keeping the liquid in its original bottle is perfectly adequate for keeping the contents fresh. I just enjoy the process of decanting when I get a new drink and also like pouring myself a glass from a decanter pretending I am an old fashioned gentleman.
I also like using a fountain pen, really enjoy the process or filling up the ink and writing with a nice pen, but sadly rarely use it these days.
Finally, I always wear a mechanical wrist watch as I prefer these to quartz (i.e. battery powered) watches. Quartz watches are better on paper - more accurate, cheaper, more durable - I just prefer mechanical ones.
I’m sure I’ll think of others but looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Music on vinyl. Pure and raw, especially through decent headphones1

Vinyl's are definitely coming back as a popular way to listen to music now @WelshBlue1

Would be a lot more but my psycho ex wife used over 200 as frisbees
My kids broke my heart when they said they didn't want my collection in my will.
Fools. There's a few collectors items in there

@Whymeiwonder2 what car do you have? I like old cars. Is it the one in your profile picture? I can't work on them so I don't own one as it would be expensive taking it to a garage all the time but I would like to own an old Mustang if I could.0

I've been into collecting cds I had growing up, like P!nk, Robert Miles, Josie and the **** cats soundtrack, Michelle Branch etc. I then upload the music and put it onto my old ipod.
I buy the cds 2nd hand of course!

@Whymeiwonder2 I like old Rovers, it will be nice when you get it up to the standard you want and will probably get lots of people talking.
@Danikins I have been looking at music that was popular when I was growing up as well but only on YouTube. It's quite nostalgic isn't it!!!1 -
@66Mustang Definitely nostalgic!0

Old cars have so much more character. And you could actually work on them.
I try to get to a couple of classic car shows a year ... I especially like the older SAABs but my dream car now would be to have a Lancia Delta Integrale or a Talbot Sunbeam Lotus again.
Would most probably go off on the first corner after being spoiled with traction control for years.

Yes, you do have to , Drive, old cars in a certain way!
My cousin rents out Mk2 Escorts for rallys ... good fun but I haven't got the grip in my hands anymore to risk driving them
The Rover SD1 is nice car - funny to think how little bhp a big V8 produced back then, compared to the modern day 1.4's etc. But that throaty gurgle when you put your foot down0 -
I did an experience day where I got to drive some old cars including some RWD cars. I had never driven an old car before. I found you definitely have to "point THEN shoot" if you use too much acceleration while going round a corner it gets a bit hairy!!!
In comparison my 2019 Mini you can have your foot to the floor while going round quite a sharp bend!!!Whymeiwonder2 said:Yes, how technology has moved on.But the sound of a v8 can’t be beaten, in my opinion anyway👍

I think we've still got 3 bin bags full of VHS tapes in the attic66Mustang said:
I miss driving RWD cars ... were much more fun, especially living in a rural area where the longest straight is about 1/4 of a mile and using the power to get you around and the accompanying petrol roar
Future generations won't get that - just the still sound of electric. Soulless like so many things about cars these days1 -
Funny you say that about future generations
The other day I heard something that made me smile
A little boy riding his bike, made that noise that everyone used to make as a kid, of an engine going up in RPMs, then down again to mimic changing up a gear and then higher again etc. etc.
I would have thought kids today the noise of a motor vehicle would just be "hummmmmmmmmm"0 -
They came back in fashion a few years ago those prams everyone was buying them. I've got a pic of me somewhere sat in one in the garden0
