i have various problems basically meaning i am disabled, i dont like to think of myself like that, but i am and i have to face that, so i applied for pip, i went to face to face apt,  1hr 10 after my apt they were still not ready to see me, i allowed 2hrs from my apt time, knowing they wouldnt be ready for at least another 15-20mins, i had to leave as was in so much pain i couldnt sit any longer and wasnt worth only having a half hr apt at most, so 2 weeks later i had a phone apt, i eventually got my call 2hours late, i had 1hour spare for the call but then had to go out straight after, each time i tried to answer, many times i was interupted whilst trying to explain, moved on to next question, i gave a fair bit of detail but there was so much more i needed them to know that i couldnt say, i had a letter come today, dated 24th nov (got 1 month to respond to it), says i scored 0 on everything, said the complete opposite of everything i told them on the phone, where i said "i need help with..." or "i struggle with ..." it was "you told us you do not have any problems with.." i was told "you can drive, that means you have good strong limbs upper body and lower body" "you werent anxious on the call" - how can anyone see if youre anxious when they cant see you... so tonight ive gone through the list of things i supposedly can do and written a note about how i cant do that and i explained this on the call. i will type it all up tomorrow and send out the letter monday. anyone else had issues with late appointments or getting letters back saying the opposite of what youve told them? anyone else been talked over when trying to explain how something affects you? id be part way into explaining and the woman would move on to next question whilst i was trying to talk.

Hello @Timmyswife. Welcome to Scope’s forum. It is great to see you have joined us. How are you at the moment?

You have been really courageous in sharing this with us. I can hear that you are having conflicting feelings about thinking of yourself as disabled at the moment. It sounds like it has been made even more difficult by your challenging experience with applying for PIP, and the PIP assessment in particular.

I can hear your frustration. Though, you have done really well to acknowledge and respond to what you need. It sounds really positive that you have proactively challenged the points they say you can do by explaining why you find these things more challenging than they acknowledged.

Best of luck typing it all up tomorrow and sending out the letter Monday. I have not got lived experience with this but I have seen lived experience with this on Scope’s community. Hopefully, our wonderful community members will be able to see and respond to your thread soon with their lived experiences. I can hear that lived experience is really important to you at the moment and understandably so.

Please don’t hesitate to let us know if we can do anything else to support you. We are all here for you and listening to you. Take care for now and we will look forward to, hopefully, hearing from you again soon :)
