Aww bless, that's really nice, but so sad, I'm in the dog house for some reason, I think it's because I have a laugh and chat to father in law, but she's not speaking to him, so I have not been invited to the Xmas night out, or welcome for Xmas as she knows there will be no room for me and my kids,, no room in the Inn, that's a fable,, but seriously I am a tad hurt...0

So I am having to spend Xmas apart from partner as he feels this will be the last one with his dad , I totally get and respect it, but feel left out, but hey ho, wish I could spend another Xmas with my dad xx0

Good and bad been married 3 times w great mil one s nightmare
However one of the good ones which is my sons grandmother now has nothing to do with us which is a shame0 -
@woodbine o no,,, it's ridiculously cruel, dementia,, terribly sad,, but her legacy remains as you still have her in your heart and tell of a lovely lady😁1

@janer1967 yes it is a shame, its horrible when life throws hurdles in the way to disrupt family's for whatever reason, my 1st mother in law hardly sees my kids anymore, that's not thru anyone's fault but her own really, she ignored my youngest last time so much so my youngest doesn't see point in going anymore, now that is a major statement from my daughter as she is quite laid back and shy,, sad really 😔0

My mother in law was fine, though following her death it seams she didn’t like me much ☹️. Truth is she didn’t know me.0

Mothers in law, now that's a subject and half!
@Ollyoyster I can understand your hurt about this. I think most families have politics like this bubbling away in the background, so you definitely aren't alone and it's a reason why some dread the big day! It doesn't sound like you have done anything wrong though and it's commendable that you understand your partner's want to spend time with his dad. I wonder, could you video call that side of the family to see them on Christmas day?
And oh heck @leeCal that must have been hard to hear! It seems you have insight into it though. And I get how significant figures in our lives can sometimes only have a superficial understanding of who we really are.
Hurray for those with, and who had, good relationships with the in-laws. Count your blessings!1 -
