Hi and welcome to the community

It can take up to 12 weeks sometimes longer for a decision to be made there are no fixed timescales

Hello there @nlov16 and welcome, thanks for your query :) As Jane says the wait can be up to 12 weeks, so it might be a while before you know more, but you've done everything you need to.

How did you find the assessment itself?

    Hi nlove16,
Some get their decision very quickly but
I waited 13 weeks to get a decision so good luck and hope you get yours soon

@Alex_Scope i prepared myself for it made a list to read from, but I hadn’t slept the night before due to anxiety and just reading about other peoples experiences, she asked me if I was working which I replied no but last worked in august but could only handle it for a week she seemed very happy when saying ‘oh so you did work then’ I’ve just got a gut feeling I won’t get it so bunch of nerves waiting for the text , thanks for asking

Hi @nlov16 that's alright, I remember my own PIP assessment being very nerve-racking, so well done for getting through it.

Being in work or out of work won't impact your PIP claim, because the decision maker focuses on how you manage daily tasks, and how you get around. Remember, the assessor's report is only a recommendation too.

It can be hard not to worry while you wait, I understand, but we're here for you if you want to chat or vent. It can sometimes help to focus on other things for a while, stuff that you enjoy doing, to take your mind off it.

Hang in there, and please reach out if you need to :)

    Hi @nlov16
As much as working shouldn't impact your PIP application, it definitely does. I've just had my tribunal hearing, and throughout the whole process so much emphasis has been put on my ability to work and how much I work. It really sucks and is very disheartening. In my case I have people I have to support, two cats with health conditions to look after, as well as paying for my rent and bills, I cannot afford to not work. Even with working, I am never out of my overdraft, and my mental and physical health suffer greatly from working. It feels very unfair, but I really hope you have a better outcome than I did!

The whole process does take a while though, so try not to focus too much on timescales. I started my application in January, so it's been almost a year and I don't have a decision yet. I've probably been lucky with about a years wait, I know others have had to wait much longer.
