Hi I have a question, I've been on pip for a year now and my mam helps me every day with everything so she could claim carers allowance for me but said she dosent want my dad's full time Job money been affected if she claims.
My mam dosent work at the min she's just waiting for her pension next year so she's not getting any money from uc just money what my dad supports her with.
So would she be able to claim it and have no affect to there house.
Thanks im not the best at explaining so thanks in advance.

Your dads earnings will not affect any entitlement to carers allowance that your mam has.Do you claim any other benefits yourself and do you live at home or by yourself?0
-
I live on my own, yes I get uc and the higher uc I carnt remember what you call it.0
-
I only get standard living allowance and no mobility aswell0

Any Carers Allowance claimed by her makes no difference to what his employer pays him for his employment.
However you also mention UC. Are they claiming UC? If so she can simply claim the carer element of UC, she doesn’t need to claim CA to get the carer element in UC.
I don’t understand what you mean by ‘affect their house’.
Would you could clarify what, if any, benefits they currently receive.0 -
Then because you're claiming UC your mum claiming carers allowance for looking after you will not affect any of your benefits. It can also be backdated for a maximum of 3 months. It may take about 3 months for a claim and she can claim online.

My dad works full time but my mam dosent claim anything.
I mean by affecting the house that any money will be deducted from my dads wage because my mams claiming carers allowance.
Thanks0 -
Your mam claiming carers allowance will not affect your dad’s earnings.0

Thanks poppy I'll get that sorted out then. Will she have to go into the jobcentre or is it all just done online0
-
No. It’s all done online here https://www.gov.uk/carers-allowance/how-to-claim1

Hi just an update my mam had applied for carers allowance today and hopefully she will get it but I'm abit worried now because I've just read on the gov site " You must claim Carer’s Allowance within 3 months of the PIP decision being made or you could lose benefit" what does this mean?
Will my pip money stop?
Thanks0 -

what that sentence refers to is that CA can be backdated by a maximum of three months or to the date of the start of the PIP award if the CA claim is made within three months of the PIP decision. This means that if the CA claim is made more than three months after the PIP decision the CA claimant misses out on some of the backdated CA.0 -
I see I get what you mean now I thought it ment my money would be stooped because I missed not applying earlier.
Thanks for that.0 -

Just another update I recieved
A letter today from dwp saying a new claim for carers allowance has been made.
Reading through it all sounds OK and correct but then it says if I pay a reduced rate of council tax ( I do) will maybe be affected?
Does that mean I will probably have to pay more council tax now?
Thanks0 -
You’re not the one that’s claiming carers allowance, it’s your mum. Therefore it will not affect any of your benefits including and council tax reduction you maybe claiming. The reason you received that letter is because your mum has claimed CA for looking after you.0
-
Thanks poppy I don't understand some of these letters I get so I like to try and get the answers on here. Thanks again0
