Hi , just wondering if anyone can clarify my position.
I put in a claim for PIP on the 17th November, I recieved
an out of the blue call from assessor on the 9th December so 2 days ago at 11am the call was 10minutes long , at 2pm I received a text saying we've received your written report . Please allow 8 weeks for a decision.

So first question: Has anyone been in my situation of them calling out for the blue? Surely a 10 minute call and asking 3 questions can not determine how my condition affects me.

Secondly : This seems super quick compared to what I have read on this helpful page :) do you think they've just based a decision on the forms I've sent in?

It's really bugging me and was quite blown away by the call out of the blue. My Anxiety levels are through the roof worrying about it.
Any help appreciated.  Thankyou

Sounds like you had a paper based assessment and they just needed to ask a few questions. If they do this they don't usually arrange the call in advance, they just ring. It's rare but it does happen.
Yes, your timescale has been very quick!
Now the report has been returned a decision can take anything up to about 12 weeks.

    Thankyou for your swift reply.

Being such a quick response from DWP and it being paper assessment. Does this usually mean that I won't qualify for PIP?

The stories on here that I've read about paper based assessments doesn't sound too convincing .
Sorry for the million questions , this is all new too me.

Since i've been a member here there's only ever been 1 thread to my knowledge where someone was refused after a paper based assessment.
Maybe you read paper based Tribunal decisions and this is completely different to a paper based assessment.

You can't draw any inference from the length of the call.

Welcome to our online community @Kez25 I'm glad you found us when thinking about your PIP claim.

It can be nerve wracking and I understand you wanting some clarity about what it all means! Unfortunately we can't make any reliable guesses at this point, but the good news is your claim is progressing quite swiftly (to press) so try and distract yourself until the decision letter arrives and then we can offer you support if you need it from then on.

Has your anxiety quelled at all? I hope so, but do lean on any coping strategies or speak with your support network if you feel it is still escalating.

Wishing you all the best for a deserved outcome, have a lovely Christmas  :)

I recieved my assessment report today. It looks like the assessor has scored me 11 on daily living and 10 on mobility.

Will the Case Manager go with this can they downgrade you on points ?
I agree with my report apart from 1 thing where I believe I should have scored 4 points , instead I scored 2.

If the CM agrees and stays with the report , is it worth me doing a MR for that 1 question.

    Thanks 😊

They mostly go with the report but it has been known for them to go against it. Nothing you can do until a decision is made, which can be up to 12 weeks from when the report was returned.
If they do go with the report i can't tell you if it's worth doing the MR because i don't know anything about how your conditions affect you or where exactly you scored those points.

That sounds like great news @Kez25 :) And good timing, as you say! It'd be great to see you stick around, perhaps to offer support to others in the PIP category, or for a chat in the coffee lounge
