Tribute poem to children who died playing on the ice
it is truly a tragedy that three young children had to lose their lives while playing on the ice that covered the water of pond of their local park.

My condolences out to the families of those children who have lost their lives.
This is a stark reminder who unsafe it is for children playing in ponds in the park.

I had a friend. We were walking through a local park. The river was iced over. He decided to walk on the ice. I told him no, don't do it. I was a competitive swimmer and I knew the dangers of ice and cold water. The ice gave way and he plunged in to the river. Thankfully I was able to save him, and I got us in to a warm and safe place within 10 minutes. I was more able to stand the cold water than he, because I swam year round. I think there should be warning signs on every river and every lake telling people not to walk on ice, because it will give way.0

It is truly devastating and to make matters worse, there were some people that recorded the children's screams for help and circulated it online and to newspapers against the boys' family's wishes and news showing the boy's photo and name against the family's wishes 💔.

My middle son and his family live on the Estate this happened.
The lake on the Nature reserve is a favourite walk of ours.
It is an awful situation for all the family members and the poor lads friends and class mates, you just wouldn't wish this to happen to anyone, Bless them all - youngsters don't always realise the danger they are in when their having a bit of fun. The local community are pulling together, with viguals, prey's, fund raising, this is not going to change the way the poor familys hearts are breaking are the moment, but hopefully it will help them feel the love a community can give them. Such a sad area at the moment. x
Thank you @Globster for your poem xx2 -
My heart goes out truly to them. Please if you see any kids playing on ice stop them as it's not safe. I would also like to say a big thank you to @Globster who took the time and effort to write this poem so the community can reflect on this tragic incident.0

It really is maybe they need awareness in the schools because some other kids were seen in another part doing the same but luckily they were OK.0
-
It is very sad indeed that all the children have now lost their lives at such a young age god bless hem all0

@Sandy_123 I definitely agree with that kids need educated in school how unsafe it is about playing in ponds and rivers and playing water in general to stop other lives being lost to kids playing in water and getting difficult and dangerous areas losing their life0
-
Yeah maybe signs up at water ways0
-
@Sandy_123 personally I do agree with you think that signs in the waterways will stop along educational videos on water safety need to be shown in our school’s again to help save lives of our young children0

Well i think the local kids all know about the dangers now.
We have to remember also that kids will be kids, as much as we tell them about all the dangers out there and try to protect them a child will always find fun, excitement and lose all sense of fear/danger. I probably done some stupid things when i was younger, it's not till you start getting older and realise the harm you can cause to yourself or others.
It's a sad accident that as hit everyone, probably more so because of the time of the year.
Feel for the family's their life will never be the same.
It's also a reminder about how special life is and we take nothing for granted. xxx0 -
