Hi, I’m new to the support group and can’t find an answer to my question on Google.
I’m currently on ESA and I’m the support group, but I would like to work less than 16 hours and I’m aware I can’t earn more than £152 week.
My question is - if I do this work will I be placed in the other group? I’m not ready to go back to full time work, especially on a permanent basis. This work is only for 4 weeks to see if I can continue working on a longer term basis.

If you do Permitted Work you remain in the Support Group.

No, you will not be placed into the other group. You are allowed to do permitted work but you need to report this to ESA and fill out a PW1 form and return it. Providing you don't earn more than the maximum amount and work less than 16 hours your ESA will continue. The only thing you need to careful of is if the work you do contradicts the reasons why you're in the Support Group then it could go against you when you're next reviewed.1

Thank you @poppy123456
Are you able to give me an idea of what could contradict may claim please? I’m off with a mental health disability, but I want to see if I’m well enough to be back in some sort of work. I’m not 100% sure if I am, to be honest. Many thanks

I can't tell you that i'm afraid because i have no idea how your conditions affect you and i don't know why you were placed into the Support Group.
