UC and child DLA

Hi I am new here,I have just been awarded dla for my child high rate care & low rate mobility I am also on universal credits,I haven't had a letter confirming his award but the dla advisor told me over the phone what we will receive,so do I leave a note on my uc journal to inform them or ring them?I work 20hrs a week single parent min wage,I'm just wondering if this will affect my uc. Thanks for any info.

Yes you need to report the changes on your journal, as in "report a change of circumstances" Tell them about the award and then your UC will include the higher disabled child element £414.88/month extra. This should be backdated to the assessment period which the DLA award starts.Providing you don't receive the LCWRA element for yourself then you can also report being your childs carer and your UC will increase by a further £168.81/month for carers element. If you reported being their carer previously then this can also be backdated to the assessment period which the DLA starts from. If you didn't reporting being their carer then it will be down to a decision maker to decide whether to backdate the carers element.As a carer you will not have any work commiments either.1
