Hey everyone 

So this is a bit of a random topic but I was curious what people have their thermostats set to during day & night?

I personally think that 18C during the day(Upto 20C during cold snap) and 16C at night(we have one of the new Smart Electric Blankets) but my partner thinks 16C at night is too low for out kitties(They have an electric heated bed and fleece blanket under the bed) so I doubt they will be getting cold.

Would be great to hear what other people set theirs to during day and night, random topic I know lol

18ºC during the day but 20ºC right now due to family members having bugs.

I believe it is just off at night but might be set to something low like 12 to stop it getting really freezing.

See that’s what I thought would be best for ours as we don’t really need heating through night but partner is worried about kitties getting cold, they have a large fleece under bed and a heated cat bed that’s on 24/7. 

At the moment we are spending around £3 through night with it set to 16C but we have been in a cold snap.

I was tempted to use the timer settings from central heating but then it would be fully off at night

The "boffins" say that living areas (lounge etc) should be 22 and sleeping areas should be 18. 

My personal settings are completely different; My heat is turned off overnight (my bedroom, at the moment, varies between 8 and 9 degrees which I prefer) but I turn the heat on for an hour or two in the morning at 20 (for the lounge).

I prefer a colder house as opposed to a warmer one, so my settings will most likely be completely different to most other people.

Yeah that makes sense, I don't know anything about cats sorry, I guess it depends on the breed and where they originate from?

Can you get coats for cats like you can with dogs or is that not really a thing?

You probably could but you may lose several layers of skin trying to get one on a cat lol it would also be quite cruel for a cat to wear one.

trying out the timer settings 

3am-4am 
7am-8am 
5:30pm-6:30pm 

set the temp to 20C during these times so hoping it works out, I’ve never used the timer settings before so curious how it will work out, it does have an “Extra Hour” button if it gets chilly

I prefer it on the cooler side also but partner is always moaning about been cold

During the day not usually more than 20 degrees, sometimes i will lower it to 19 depends on what i'm doing. If i'm very cold i will put it to 21 but not often. At night i lower it to 16.5 degrees.

I also have an indoor cat. He sleeps on top of my duvet. His fur is short but very thick, i've never noticed that he's ever cold. Though when i get up and higher the thermostat he does sit by the radiator in the living room. If i bought him a bed of his own, i would guarantee that he wouldn't sleep in it. As for a coat for him, there's no chance of that and he's far too big to wrestle with haha. (17Ibs)

The temperature of our flat is currently being dictated by the smallest member of the family - our hamster. We have a very open plan flat that gets quite cold in the winter, and the hamster that needs a fair amount of warmth. The Hamsters need is winning out over sanity but it will be much better when it warms.

I have it set at 10c at night and 12c during the day but today being a bit damp out I’ve set it to 14c. I wear thermals and two jumpers though so I can save on gas a bit. Costing quite a bit anyway.

Timer settings seem to be working great! Bungalow is always nice n warm and gas cost is very reasonable!
Never used timer settings before for central heating but will certainly be using them from now on.
