Hi
I am looking for advice. My son who is 7 is under a lot of investigations at the moment. He has additional needs a learning disability is on the special needs register and is awaiting an ehcp being done to get him the help he needs in school. He will more than likely need 1-1 support in school full time. He also is under a paediatric consultant orthotics and orthopaedics occupational health physiotherapy and speech and language also we are awaiting an mri scan. He also walks with a gait some days he finds it difficult to walk and do day to day tasks.
At the moment we aren't entitled to any benefits. We are wondering whether it is worth us trying to claim dla but before putting the forms in we wanted to know whether you think we might be entitled to this or not we have absolutely no idea and don't want to waste our time if it's a non starter. Any advice would be hugely appreciated.

In terms of dla a lot of it they need reports which we do have but a lot is on his medial records etc would I get in touch with the gp to get all the information I need? Or would I need to go to each individual team eg orthotics, ot, physio etc0

No one here can tell you whether he would be entitled to any DLA. What you need to prove is that he has more care and/or attention needs than a child the same age who doesn't have a disability. You can ask his GP for some of his medical records if you think they will help. Remember for evidence, less is often more.0

@poppy123456 yes I understand that that wasn’t what I was asking. I was asking for advice on whether it was worth maybe enquiring about it. As someone who has had no experience with benefits I am currently very clueless to it all and we just wanted someone to shed some light on it for us. I currently have no idea where to start0

If you are clueless about benefits I would suggest to you that you keep poppy (and colcotti) inside the tent. You won`t go wrong if you doBexD1990 said:@poppy123456 yes I understand that that wasn’t what I was asking. I was asking for advice on whether it was worth maybe enquiring about it.
