I am wondering about getting cars adapted for use by small people = I am 4 foot 5 inches. I find it difficult to see over the steering wheel and reach the pedals. I have to use a cushion in my present car, but need something larger to allow for a scooter hoist and 2 scooters [one is my husbands] in the boot. I have a blue badge and he is in the process of applying for one.

Hi there welcome to the community another member will correct me if I'm wrong but I think you get a car from the mobility scheme.
Furthermore I would recommend that you visit the coffee lounge for a general chat and the games room for some fun

Hi, excuse me interjecting but can I get a car from Motability because I have a Blue Badge? (I receive PIP but only for daily living/standard, not for mobility whhch i didn't appeal against at Tribunal).
Hi @Carol12 and welcome! I'm sorry I don't have an answer but hopefully someone will come on with ideas for you.

Most likely you won't get a car from Motability. But I'm not an expert, so I might be wrong.

Hi,
Unfortunately a Blue Badge alone does not allow access to the Motability scheme.
You would need the Enhanced Mobility rate of PIP for that.

Hi,
Do do you qualify for the Motability scheme?
Many modern cars have seat height adjustment as standard nowadays, though I am unsure whether there will be enough range on that to meet your needs. Pedal extensions are also very easy to fit if you haven't already considered those so far.

@OverlyAnxious thank you. I am stupid sometimes I use my old car once a month, if that, to drive a mile it's probably not even worth carrying on with it tax insurance is c 60 a month but feel without it really really stuck but i am anyway its a mental thing 🙃 🙄

I can definitely relate to that. I lost the ability to drive nearly 4 years ago now. It has had a huge impact on my quality of life and independence. Those things are more important than money at the end of the day.

I am really sorry to hear that @OverlyAnxious 😞 ❤️. To get a cab locally is still c 15.00 to 20.00 and c 90.00 to get to hospital appts but I am mostly housebound. So I think 60 to keep my car is worth it but most days I can't drive it anyway/had to cancel a lot of appts which has really p'd everyone off I know , and got me discharged from some of the services i need I have to make some decisions re £ but I procrastinate too much too. All the very best to you. I didnt drive until I was 40, now 62 but it's definitely more of a mental thing with me too. Take good care.
