Hi @farhan13579
Yes, it is best to tell them you have a driving licence if they ask.
The only way you qualify for motability scheme is if you have high rate mobility component of pip, it is not to do with whether you have a driving license or not.1 -
Hi,
Having a driving licence is one of the 'cut & paste' excuses some assessors use to refuse people PIP.
If you have got one, you should definitely tell them, but make clear any difficulties or limitations you have with driving, as that can help to back up points made for other descriptors.

There should be no issue with you telling them you hold a driving licence, lots of able bodied and disabled folk do, indeed Enhanced PIP allows you to join the motability scheme to lease a car so you would need a licence to access this if eligible.

Also some people have a driving license purely for ID purposes.

Hello! I hope you are well
I have pip assessment next week and I m doing part time job
If they ask me about job
What shall I tell them?
Let me know please thanks

Always tell them the truth.
If you can only manage part time work due to your health conditions then explain that to the assessor.

Is this true ?
Many people who are on Motability do not drive themselves and rely on partners to drive for them

Is it true that you have to have higher rate mobility component to go onto motability? Yes.
Is it true to tell them that you have a driving licence? Yes.

Hi @farhan13579 I applied in Aug 22, assessment on phone in Dec 22, was declined and did Mandatory Reconsideration, that was also declined by March 23, applied for Tribunal and attended that in March 2024 was awarded standard for daily living. I didn't appeal for mobility as was bad but lot worse now but awarded until Aug 27 (5yr award) so guessing that will be reviewed from Aug 26 then stopped at review if i don't get 4 points on any category which I didn't before. Then I'll appeal and off we go again on the ridiculous merry- go-round that's the DWP which is so far from merry as it could possibly be!
Then if not awarded it back and we get to Nov 28 my LCWRA will get stopped if the Green Paper gets passed. Then I've 17 months until state pension age so impoverished basically unless there's a miracle.
Sorry for gloomy post but that's my reality. Despite all of the above, for now - today, I'm happy. Take care and all the best to you.

On a more positive note, my son's transition from dla to pip in 2020 was seemless. Applied mid december 2019. Awarded double enhanced 5 years April 2020 paper based assessment.
There's no telling but if you have good NHS reports confirming your disabilities and have a carer/support worker who is willing to back up your evidence, it could be plain sailing.

Hello @farhan13579 - I'm sorry about your PIP decision. You can appeal against this, & the first stage of appealing is called a Mandatory Reconsideration (MR) where another decision maker will look at everything again. Do put your MR in writing; a letter is fine.
Remember PIP is not about any diagnosis, but rather how your disability affects certain activities of daily living &/mobility the majority of the time.
With your MR you should say where you think you should have got points, & why giving a couple of detailed examples as to the difficulty you face for each applicable descriptor, i.e. when did it happen, where, what happened, did anyone see this, & were there any consequences to attempting/doing an activity?
Say if you can't do an activity 'reliably,' i.e. safely, to an acceptable standard, repeat as often as one would reasonably expect, or if it takes you much longer than someone without a disability.
Put your name & National Insurance number on each page. Keep a copy, & get a free Certificate of Posting from your Post Office when sending it off.
Please come back with any questions.

Is it important to request a copy of the assessors report before go for mandatory reconsideration?

One assessor asked me if i drove,I said never, I'd be too frightened to even try, I'd never be able to concentrate to even take lessens,I'm too panicked and wouldn't rem what to do, which is the truth, I did once try for a provisional licence for photographic ID only but was refused due to one of my health conditions, anyway, she stated on my report.. "Does not want to drive." Thus minimising my health condition that got me refused, plus my anxiety and panic I suffer from,in her world I just did not want to drive. !

Hi yes because you will see what has been written about you and then challenge the assessors report and the decision outcome.

This is one of the main problems of the system. Two assessors can interpret the same answer in different ways, one being for a positive outcome and one being for a negative outcome. I really can't see why they can't look at many confirmed diagnoses which have certain and implied inherent problems and make some decisions on those instead of putting us all through this eternally damaging cycle of oppression.

Seems like they want us to drive so that they can use it to give us 0 points.

I was asked that very same question by the PIP assessor. Not trusting them, I denied holding a driving licence.
