Hi, my name is hkp126! Could I get financial support from benefits?
I have been suffering with long covid for 2 years, diagnosed by gp. Also have diabetes, 35 years. I aged 60yo and still work 2 days a week but I am struggling. I am exhausted, physically, sleeping aa much as I can, even at work. I am wondering if I can get financial support from benefits, never ever claimed before.

Hi @hkp126, welcome to the community. Sorry to hear you've been struggling so much, that sounds like a lot to deal with. You might like to have a look at a benefits calculator to see what you'd be entitled to:
It will ask a few questions about your circumstances and can give you an idea of what you might be eligible for and how much you could get.
Are your work understanding of your difficulties?

Hi @hkp126 I'm sorry you're struggling with LC, I was diagnosed in 2023 I caught Covid in April 2020, Nov 20 (very ill for 5 wks) and Jan 22, each time caught it at work.
I reduced to 3 days a week Sept 22 but what I realise in hindsight, is pushing through it thinking my health would improve in time was incorrect, (since learned re pacing etc but c 20 diagnoses now) housebound now after c 22 sickness absences, dismissed from 2 nursing jobs went on SSP then dismissed June 23.
Went on UC, then filled in UC50 form and was awarded LCWRA c Sept 23 then PIP daily living standard) jn March 2024 18 months after applying and after Tribunal.
Whatever changes are brought in (re Green Paper) it's unlikely I'll work again, even from home.
Is it worth you ringing the CAB who could tell you work out how to approach it? They helped me, as did the Money/Benefits team at my council since I was rehomed in a council bungalow nearly 3 yrs ago. The latter also helped with my PIP application.
Sending 🫂. Don't know if you get help from a LC clinic. Mine have lost funding now so I don't but mine (physio and OT) were appalling/harmed my mental health with gaslighting etc etc. The ME Association help people with LC too now (not just ME/CFS) so they could be a good port of call. They've been brilliant. All the very best to you.
