He eats raw chicken, turkey, lamb, duck, rabbit etc; at leat 10% of which is bone. The tripe is added to some of his meals - Nutriment (All included in the meal. All I do is defrost them). I have a chest freezer full of 500g trays. I used to buy the 1.4 kg chubbs, but am now too weak to put a meat cleaver through a partially frozen chubb. The trays make it more expensive, but he has eaten Nutriment since 8 weeks old.

There used to be tripe dressers all over the place, but they have almost completely diisappeared. It was an important part of working people's diet at one time. Have you read Orwell's 'The Road To Wigan Pier'?

No I've not read that. I'll Google it omg I've got around 200 books I've got to read, only read 1 last year 'cos of eyes but I really miss reading and have got a big magnifying glass.

My mum used to cook tripe for her and dad, neither my sisters nor I would eat it. I think it's cow's stomach.

It's good you get it in trays/prepared guessing it's mainly if cooking it it pongs. Bet I was popular with my upstairs neighbours, I only lived their 4 months. Gonna Google that book I'm addicted to them !

Now got to find the book, it sounds fascinating, love social history and glad it isn't a novel I only tend to read non- fiction.would love to see his publisher, Victor Gollancz's interview with MelvincBragg/1970 might You Tube that one. Thanks for mentioning, recommending it! Love the comment he couldn't economically justify getting married (Orwell) sounds like he was quite careful with money although c 88 years later I reckon there's some similarities to today overall.

It can be hard going in parts, but the insight from Orwell's lived experiences In the north, in the 1930s is something else. (Very funny in parts too).

Magnifying glass at the ready!! Purchased his biography can't member author's name but he was a emeritus professor at Birkbeck.

Hi Ranald, is your puppy elderly? I've been very blessed to have friends with dogs, i look after the other dogs a lot so there are four of them in a wee pack. Although Fhian is very nervy he's very social and happiest chasing round the house or garden at top speed, jumping on and off the furniture! πŸ˜‚ Good job everything is old and tatty!

Gus will be 7 in May and loved to play with other dogs, up until he reached full maturity around 2.5 to 3yo. He would sadly just attack any dogs he met now.

I am in the fortunate position of having walks I can take, where he will meet very few if any dogs. We usually do a 6-10 miles daily walk (him walking, me scooting), and quite often late at night.

He is fine with horses, sheep, and cattle (Not Highlanders, he chases them). It was funny last year when a horse was sniffing him, as he looked up into it's face. The horse suddenly whickered, and he jumped away sneezing. He usually follows them and sniffs at their fetlocks or tries to get their attention.

I wish he was like Dino, his predecessor, but I certainly don't have the cash to go to see a dog behaviorist or whatever, and am just making the best of it.

Gosh that is difficult. My dog is hostile to other dogs he meets outside, especially males.... out of fear. These three dog friends are all female and he's known them since puppyhood. I wouldn't attempt to introduce him to another boy dog.

I also take him on evening walks when people are usually having supper and the street and fields are quiet.

I also can't afford a doggy psychologist, and the vet keeps suggesting it because he's so fearful....but he went to all the puppy classes and socialization groups at that same vet, to no avail!πŸ™„ He's never been traumatised, he's just naturally nervy and timid. My last two dogs were so chilled out and the same breed, trained the same way.🀷

It's hard having a neurotic dog but we do our best for them and at least they have us. As a mentally ill woman that society rejects I'm not going to reject this dog for having similar problems, we can be misfits together. πŸ˜‰
