Hi , I submitted my first sick note on my journal on the 28th November 2024 I then had my Work Capability Assessment on 17th March 2025 and was then awarded LCWRA on the 31st March 2025 I Normally get paid on the 18th of each month I have just checked my April statement and it only includes my UC allowance and not my LCWRA? Im a bit confused about this because last week they did say the LCWRA element should be included in April’s statement with my UC and I was wondering am i entitled to any backpay?

    LCWRA has a waiting period of three full assessment periods, from the date the first Fit Note was handed in. No money is paid or subsequently owed for that period.

    Once you receive the decision, UC need time to process before LCWRA is added to your monthly payment, and any backpay calculated.

    Any money owed is calculated separately and this usually takes several weeks at least. You'll know this has been done when a letter is added to your Journal confirming the amount they owe you.

    You'll then receive the money into your bank account several working days later.

    What date did you report the health condition?

    What date was your first Fit Note?

    Were there any gaps in handing in Fit Notes, any that were backdated etc? It's the date they were given to UC that counts, not the start date written on them.

    Do you claim with a partner who gets LCWRA, or have Transitional Protection on your claim?

    Hi there was no gaps between sick notes and I submitted my first sick note On november 28th 2024 and last week on my journal i did ask when will the lcwra be added and someone replied it would be added with my next statement But it isnt added and it has been longer than three months since my first sicknote so surely i should be entitled to some backpay because on my journal when i asked about backpay someone said theres no backpay due which is just so confusing

    Unfortunately UC often give incorrect advice.

    My estimate of your waiting period:

    November/December: Partial Assessment Period, not included for waiting period

    December/January: AP 1

    January/February AP 2

    February/March AP 3

    March/April: Eligible for LCWRA element

    April 17th: First LCWRA element paid.

    You are currently owed one month's LCWRA element in backpay.

    As advised once you receive the decision, UC need time to process before LCWRA is added to your monthly payment, and any backpay calculated.
