Personal Independence Payment Return of Form.

The following information was obtained from the Royal Mail website:

“If your PIP form was sent to Wolverhampton via special delivery but arrived in Shrewsbury, you should immediately contact the Department for Workand Pensions (DWP) to report the issue and ensure they receive your form. You may also want to follow up with Royal Mail or your local post office to investigate the error.”

The above just happened to me! My son’s review form was returned in the envelope provided and was addressed correctly to the Wolverhampton department by Special Delivery. Upon checking the delivery status on Royal Mail’s Track and Trace website it stated it was delivered to Shrewsbury DO and was signed for.

I will ring PIP enquiries this morning to explain what has happened and see I they can shed light on as to why a correctly addressed envelope, sent by special delivery, can be delivered to Shrewsbury!

I will also ring Royal Mail’s complaints department to enquire as to why this appalling error has occurred.

As always, I made a copy of every page of returned form and addressed envelope with several cameras. A video of it was made as the contents entered the sealed envelope with unique markings on the back, and another video as the postman collected it from my house.

I thought it best to draw this matter to the attention of claimants who are going to return a review form to the PIP department in Wolverhampton. I hasten to add this is no fault of the DWP but with Royal Mail in whom I now have zero faith.

It is blatantly obvious from the Royal Mail message above that this sort of dreadful error is happening with highly important documents. I will investigate why and report this to my ombudsman forthwith.

Thanks so much for the update and letting us know what's happening. Really sorry to hear you've been passed pillar to post - that sounds so frustrating.

It's really odd that the PIP forms ended up in Shrewsbury instead of Wolverhampton . I really hope you get it sorted out soon. It makes me wonder where my change of circumstances forms have gone too. I did send them via special delivery last year , but I forgot to check the track the letter.

I just wanted to add that I've totally lost trust in Royal Mail myself, as they actually lost my daughter's passport-3 months ago. Now I send all docs through EVRI . It’s been okay so far and cheaper than RM.I really hope you get some resolution with this soon.

    Best Wishes

It's terrible that Royal Mail can no longer be depended upon. Crucial correspondence is sent through the post, not only vital forms relating to DWP claims but life altering letters from the NHS aswell. It's not as if it is cheap either.

Thank you both for your replies. It is now just after six in the morning as I have up all night worrying. Another few hours and I will ring the PIP enquiry line and let you know how I get on. I will also ring Royal Mail. The special delivery was £8.75 as it was quite a large envelope. Best wishes to you both.

After a forty-five minute wait I got through to Royal Mail who said it was “normal” for mail to go through the Shrewsbury office and then to Wolverhampton! Hence the delay in receiving the review form.

After almost an hour of waiting I got through to the DWP at Wolverhampton who said they received the form.

It was worth waiting up all night to hear good news in spite of the rigmarole!
