hi guys I’m new on here and just after advice I’ve got osteoarthritis in one hip and both knees I’m currently applying for pip and have a telephone appointment in 2 weeks since I completed the application form in March I’ve been told last week I’m now on the list for a hip replacement and then both knees when I’m able to - should I tell the assessor this when they ring - thanks in advance

Hi,
Were you given any idea of how long the wait is likely to be?
In order to claim PIP you need to be expected to have the same level of difficulty for the next 9 months.
I would always advise telling the truth at the assessment. However in this case that could go against you. The assessor may decide there is a good chance of no longer meeting the descriptors in 9 months time with upcoming operations.
Most people have more than one condition that affects their daily life & mobility, so it is worth considering that as well.

Thanks for the comment as I said in my post as well as my hip both knees are bone on bone so they need to be replaced as well the Consultant said at least 12 months for hip replacement
