    @Rik

    I have all the symptoms you mentioned -I even have my own thread on this same topic. In my case, my GP suspected PAD, and I’ve been on the NHS vascular surgery waiting list for some time. The pain in my legs is severe, as it’s due to a combination of factors, with neuropathy being one of the main culprits.

    With my neck-I initially experienced neck pain and radicular pain in my shoulder ,upper limbs & hands, which led to a diagnosis of cervical disc pathology and radiculopathy. As a result, I underwent a two-level cervical discectomy and fusion . However, rather than improving my condition, the surgery significantly worsened my neck pain. Since the procedure, I have continued to experience persistent, often debilitating neck discomfort that impacts my daily functioning and quality of life. I’m on a concoction of pain meds , including Butec 7 day Patches.

    I truly empathise with you -I know how agonising claudication pain in the legs and chronic neck pain can be. I hope you’re receiving the medical support you need and deserve.

    Best wishes.

    Hi @Rik , I’m really sorry to hear what you’re going through. I can relate deeply. I used to be in a physically demanding role and later moved into leadership, but I became seriously unwell three years ago after an adrenal crisis(due to adrenal insufficiency)and multiple hospital admissions. Since then, my health has never fully recovered with newly diagnosed conditions (ongoing), and like you, I’ve struggled with chronic pain and long-term conditions.

    I tried returning to work twice, but it worsened my condition. My neck issues go back years, and despite surgeries in 2016 and 2018, they’ve been a major barrier.

    Have you considered asking your employer for reasonable adjustments-perhaps a role more focused on the till or less physically demanding tasks or flexible working ? ‘Access to Work’ helped me in the past (though I hear waiting times are longer now), but it might still be worth applying.

    I heard through others that scope has an employment support helpline too—it could be useful to talk through your options with them. If all else fails, maybe consider exploring a different, less physical role long-term.

    I truly understand the crossroads you’re at-it’s incredibly hard. Please don’t hesitate to reach out, and hopefully, others here can share their experiences and offer more structured advice.

    Wishing you all the best, my friend.
