Hope this is helpful but My sis in law claims carers for her hubby and they refused her PIP saying she was well enough to care for husband.
I would look into it a bit more.

The type of care you provide
You need to spend at least 35 hours a week caring for someone. This can include:
- helping with washing and cooking
- taking the person you care for to a doctor’s appointment
- helping with household tasks, like managing bills and shopping
When you are in receipt of the enhanced rate of PIP you are actually declaring you need help and support with the above. It would be quite hard to then make an application as a carer. Although there are people out there that are struggling to do just that. However it would contradict the eligibility criteria for PIP.- Thus Sandy61 makes a very good point investigate further.

I'm curious why she would want to do that?
As others have said, there could be a conflict between her claim for PIP and her claiming to be able to provide 35 hours of care on a regular, reliable, and safe basis.
That said, from the various fora I read, it does seem to be a common situation where a couple both claim PIP and also claim CA for each other.
I suspect those situations will be under much more scrutiny in future.

I am sure it will effect your esa, because if your well enough to become a carer, I would look more into this, before applying

Hi @mills470 I've merged your comment to this post, as I think it was meant for it. I hope that's ok 🙂
