hi … my son has 24 hours care ! Some provided by a care agency and some provided by a PA while I’m at work part time , I have just been offered a 2 bedroom flat with no private outdoor space for my son and the 2nd bedroom is a small single which is where I will sleep , am I not entitled to at least a double as I am Christopher’s main carer .

Would it fit a double bed for yourself, with other furniture wardrobe, chest of drawers etc placed elsewhere such as hall or other bedroom? Sometimes you need to be creative with what you have and think differently.

I'm afraid the answer is no, bedroom size doesn't factor in to your entitlement when it comes to housing.

Many people including myself sleep in a single bed- for varying reasons.

    Hi

It only has room for a double bed no furniture! I am 62 and on the larger size ! And putting furniture in a hall way will be a trip hazard for my son ?

Obviously I don't know the layout, but furniture placed against walls in a hallway shouldn't present a trip hazard.

Although you are not entitled to a bedroom of a specific size, it sounds like the property isn't suitable for your needs as a family.

Chris has balance and spatial awareness challenges so walkways need to be clear, he can’t afford to injure feet or himself as he is type 1 diabetic.
