I think the fact that this is the worst reforms I can think of. At least when pip came out and we had that fight we had esa to back us up until tribunal. What they’ve done is basically made disabled people no longer disabled in the eyes of the law. And knowing when we can’t look for work they’ll sanction us therefore saving more money. I can’t even understand how that’s legal and acceptable to them .

    Its never mentioned now.

But Starmer when standing for leader actually said he would AXE UC.

this was 100% to get the left of the party to support him. There is now not one promise

he made that hasn't been broken. My brother finally submitted his UC after the ESA Migration they are utterly clueless, its like large sections of this migration process have no idea and its actually terrifying.

They rejected the forms of ID that are clearly stated as acceptable but then accepted a utility bill and a council tax statement. They said the passport was now not being accepted

    when did that happen??

Isn't anyone worried about the prospect of a young person leaving care but denied benefits for their illness or disability until they are 22? It's an outrageous idea!

Child poverty targets were scrapped in 2013 at the same time as cuts were made to Child Benefit. Are we expecting young people possibly with learning difficulties to start writing to their MP's about this?

I wish we could see the bigger picture. I hope people remember what's ahead for the younger generations too.

MW, exactly that, utterly respectful of others' faiths but firm that he does not 'believe'.

I didn't like Tony Blair switching to Catholicism the day after he lost the 2010 GE.

IDS is a Catholic, another switcher 🙄 Timms and the Trussell Trust was a good look for him, wasn't it?

I did my migration today . They questions made little sense even CAB who UC put me through to didn’t understand. I had asked twice which ID could I use as I’ve no drivers license or passport . Then the ID wasn’t accepted so I left a message in my homework ( journal). Was told they’d call me , no call. Instead they messaged to say credit debit card etc ok . Then I got sent an appointment. I called to ask for a biographical interview. Was told that’s for passports and driver license only . I googled that and it said it’s wrong. 30 minute form took all day .

I guess you could say he is scrapping UC and PIP one reform at a time . In true Starmer style he may of said he’ll scrap UC but did he say he’ll replace it with something better?

Yes because UC is the problem. It has been since the start. We are all being moved onto the new system.

"What they’ve done is basically made disabled people no longer disabled in the eyes of the law."

DWP did precisely this in the 2016 Act. This is what I'm trying to explain. We URGENTLY need to revisit those reforms. The worst has already happened to sick and disabled claimants!

Parliament was deliberately lied to and that cannot be allowed to stand.

sarah, this has very little to do with Starmer. This has been in the planning long before he became an MP.

but he’s the PM now . He can’t blame the Tory’s or anyone else though of course he tries to . He could have scrapped uc and the pip reforms day one but instead fought to keep the reforms in court . Had Tory’s won I don’t think we’d be in this mess now , not this badly anyway.

Then you have no idea. UC cannot be scrapped.

UC migration was scaled up last May - nothing to do with Labour. The 10,000 cap was to be removed through 2022 amended migration regulations.

secretsquirrel, the Tories spent 14 years blaming Labour for the mess we are in and will be in for a long time!

Have you forgotten what has happened in the last 14 years???

I didn’t feel this bad when the Tory’s were in power I know that much . Yes there was the fear of losing pip but we’d usually have esa to help pay our bills as we went to tribunal. With this you fail the pip assessment you lose everything. And now the assessment it set up to fail us . Standard care will be practically gone and even some on highest care like myself will not be eligible. Then sanctioned when we can’t work. Of course starmer could stop this , he doesn’t want to . He doesn’t care but anyone in this country. Being PM is a stepping stone to greater things. Maybe he doesn’t even want a second term . Who he’d think his voter base is now god knows IMO

Never mind the last 14 years, it's the last 2 months under Labour that will prove worse for millions of us than the Tories were! And some of your posts today sound like you're apologising for Starmer's toxic Labour.

It's impossible to ignore those 14 years. You can pretend but the damage is done and inequality will continue to grow.
