It saddens me to see one marginalised group fall for the lies told about another marginalised group.
For some reason I couldn’t respond to the post I read but people who come to the UK seeking refugee or asylum seeker status are not ‘illegal immigrants’, they are stuck in limbo whilst they wait for their claims to be processed. Under the previous government processing claims slowed right down, hence the backlog and having to put claimants in hotels , though the private accommodation providers are making a pretty penny off government contracts.
Also remember that refugees and asylum seekers are people who have been forced to leave home due to war and persecution, and many of them are in fact disabled/sick themselves. People accuse us of lying to be able to claim ‘benefits’ that we know are not enough to live on, why are we believing others who wish to spread hatred about another group of vulnerable people?
This is how we’re persuaded to vote against our own self interest to ‘stick it’ to some vulnerable group but then when we become vulnerable ourselves we find theres barely any support available because if you allow the government to go after one marginalised/vulnerable group, they’ll go after every marginalised/vulnerable group.

When I lived in London I relied a lot on the buses, and some of the routes that were my lifelines back then don't exist now. They were rerouted to favour tourists over residents, or just cut back and removed completely.
I could list a whole slew of routes I used to rely on that are either now gone or rerouted at the point they were useful to me.On the subject of asylum seekers, in my job I encounter them relatively often. Usually with letters saying, congratulations on being granted asylum, you now have x number of days to quit your accommodation. So basically being granted asylum means being made automatically homeless. The whole system is broken but it is not the fault of these people. The ones I've met have been polite, respectful and genuinely just wanting to sort their lives out. Many are at rock bottom. I will never hold them responsible for what is happening to us - like us, they are marginalised, unseen and misrepresented, but still human beings.

It is a measily amount of money that we have such a terrible challenge to keep. 😡
This government IS appalling and the successive governments before it haven't been much better, for years now.
I have too lost all faith in the political process but as I still want my vote to count, I shall spoil my ballot in future elections. That means that I will send them the message that I don't want to vote for ANY of them!! 😤
We MUST keep going, however hard it is to do and I will continue in my support in the fight against these vile proposals for you, all the community and for all disabled people. I couldn't find it within me to do anything else. ✊

I’m so sorry to hear about the negative experiences you’ve faced following your post. It’s heartbreaking to learn about the harrowing experiences asylum seekers and refugees go through — especially those who have disabilities themselves, and their families and children too, from what you’ve shared and from what I’ve heard more widely.
Have you tried contacting the Scope Helpline to seek accurate advice ? They might be able to offer advice or signpost you to appropriate support. (Just a thought?)

Technically I've never been assessed for lcwra as I moved to UC voluntarily in mid 2022 from ESA support group
you automatically qualify for the lcwra group if you move over from support group .....
Last time I was reassessed was Nov 2019 for ESA support group , was supposed to be assessed again November 2021
So I'm coming up in November for 6 years since reassessment and 4 years overdue
The DWP did start reassessments in 2021 but they were for lcw and changes of circumstances only a handful have only
As I understand it and still do the ESA50 and UC50 are identical including descriptors for lcw and lcwra and I've seen no mention of anything changing to this until 2028
New and existing claims for pip will be affected from November 2026 onwards but lcwra will be reassessed in the same way it is now with the same descriptors as now till 2028
Obviously who knows what's going to happen by then bit I think that's how it stands at the moment

I deeply appreciate your empathy. There is no doubt that asylum seekers and refugees, especially those with disabilities, face immense hardships, and their struggles deserve our recognition.
However, right now, our battle as disabled people in the UK must be our focus. The cuts we’re facing threaten our basic survival. We are fighting for dignity, for security, for the very right to live without fear of abandonment by a system designed to protect us. This fight is not just for us, it’s for all disabled people, including asylum seekers who will one day be granted protection.
When asylum seekers are granted leave to remain, they will enter a system that must already be robust enough to support them. If we allow the government to strip away essential benefits now, we are guaranteeing that future disabled refugees and asylum seekers will struggle even more. But if we fight and win today, they will inherit stronger protections, greater financial security, and a system that treats them as valued members of society.

Danny, LCWRA is the Support Group in ESA. Assessments and reassessments are carried out under a WCA previously for allocation to either group with a component and now for allocation to either group but with only one paying a premium. There is one assessment.

the problem with asylum seekers is that they are coming in on boats sent from France, remember we are an island surrounded by sea , and the rules about seeking asylum while running from danger is that you are to seek asylum in the first safe country ,( France ), Could be other countries , but most boats are crossing the channel ,I am sorry for them and yet at the same time we are being threatened with poverty and homelessness , the system is not working , we need immigration, but it must be done fairly , and it isn't fair to take off us to give to others who should have stopped in France the first safe country.
I think we have been conditioned to put others before ourselves in fear of being labelled mean.

It's so sad that many people are falling for the fake news that is created and spread deliberately by the Daily Mail (or may I say, Daily garbage), Daily Express, the Sun, GB News, and the likes, to intentionally mislead the unsuspecting gullible minds!
For your information, "these people" are not immigrants, leave alone illegal immigrants, in the first place. Neither does a single council or any other local authority in the country house illegal immigrants directly or indirectly or pay for their housing, as this is not their responsibility.
Firstly, they're asylum seekers, and the 1951 UN Refugee Convention obliges the signatory countries to protect refugees on their territory and treat them according to internationally recognised standards.
Secondly, apart from a few of them who are housed in basic old B&B transformed into small hostels failure to continue to operate as B&B, most of them are crammed into temporary minimalistic accommodations, sharing a room by four or even more, leave alone each having their own housing and getting all the stuff you've listed paid for them. They don't get a penny for clothing, or transport unless they've got to attend an appointment at the immigration service, and claiming that they're provided brand new white goods is as farcical as it can get.
Thirdly, they're only housed while the Home Office makes a decision on their asylum application. And as soon as a decision is made, whether they're granted or refused, the local authority is no longer in charge of their case. Those who are granted a refugee status, like anyone in the country, apart from the monarchy, they've to fend for themselves and find their own way, and those whose asylum case has failed, they're mostly transferred into detention centres awaiting deportation.
Finally, the Daily Mail and the likes are deliberately misleading their audience and making poor asylum seekers the scapegoats for the ills of the system in order to spread and fuel division and racial hatred and, most of all, mainstream far-right politics across the country.

Like I said above ....
My last reassessment was November 2019 for ESA support group , that was a esa50
I was supposed to be reassessed again in November 2021
So nearly 6 years since a reassessment
Nearly 4 years overdue one
In mid 2022 I vounterally moved to UC from ESA support group
I have since been paid ....
Cbesa support group every two weeks and UC lcwra end of every month
They deduct my cbesa of my lcwra award each month
My understanding was when you were on ESA it was a ESA50 form you fill out
If you are migrated over to UC or voullentatrlly move yourself , when reassessed it will be the uc50 that you will have to fill in and this will cover your ( in my case ) cbesa part and lcwra part ....
I was of the understanding that the forms are identical
So I understand it's just one wca and it's the same one ☺️
I was just worried that because technically I was always been reassessed for ESA it might somehow be different format for lcwra as like I say I haven't experienced a reassessment since I've been on UC ....
I just done the mock test for lcwra to make sure all descriptors were the same as when I had to do the ESA one and they I think they are
I passed with three different , 15 point answers
I also done the new pip one and passed the 4 point criteria
Of course I know that doesn't mean alot
I think what I read on your comment I got completely muddled up with 😌 apologies
So am I right in my thinking of how things are currently ?
And my thinking on what's to come as it stands is
March 2026 cuts for new claims and frozen
Just frozen for existing claimants
Pip new criteria comes into play from November 2026 for new and existing pip claimants only
Wca assessment stays the same until 2028 when upon that time gets abolished and pip criteria takes over as the one main assessment
So I'm just thinking at the moment the biggest thing for me to concentrate on is a wca reassessment that will come anytime between now and 2028

Is there a picture of this questionnaire?, the fact this is being done by post, means social media discussion is restricted as is online version? Is it even official or some scam to get people scared and talking?
Although this government have tried to claim they are distanced from the PIP consultation, I expect every eventual change that gets made will be something that was in the consultation, e.g. the 4 point idea was in the consultation, as was the requirement for medical diagnosis.0 -
My council is Labour, my parents Tory.
Quick comparison.
My most recent referral for new OT never happened, and when I tired to self refer on the phone they refused. Their excuse was a 9 month wait and they have chosen to require a consultant referral. They told me to ring mediquip myself for a new bath lift.
My GP no appointments, but receptionist managed to get a social care guy to ring me back, and he said the council are currently breaking the law, and there is currently a fight between GPs and my council. He is currently trying to get me a OT appointment.
My parents council, my sister was able to refer fine for my disabled Mother, within 3 weeks an OT visited and all work was done. She also tried to refer me, but my council rejects family referrals. Labours way of dealing with high demand is just to cut people off. The evidence is all over the place in my life. Whether its a Labour government or council.
These ideas from Kendall to offload stuff to councils will be a disaster postcode lottery. My experience with Labour running services is they tend to have a very high bar for what they consider vulnerable, hence their targets on PIP and LCWRA, plus the state of my council, as another example my Labour council only lets council house tenants get access to household support funds, no one as owner occupier or private rental can access.0
