PIP Letter

My PIP award letter seems to have vanished. I get enhanced for both daily care and mobility, but I want to check if I get 4 points on any descriptors. I think I do, but want to know for my next review.
Other than calling PIP, which we have tried, is there any way to get a copy of my award letter?

No, sorry. The only option is calling PIP.
Did they refuse to provide it or could you not get through?

I applied for PIP on 27/08/2024 and had the assessment on 25/10/2024, and then had the PIP refusal decision on 01/11/2024 for zero points for daily living and mobility. I then went to Lambeth and Merton Citizen Advice Bureau who wrote a Mandatory reconsideration letter on my behalf saying that I scored more than 12 points in the daily living activities and 4 points on the mobility activities. The DWP then contacted me on 13/01/2025 saying that they are looking at their decision and will contact me within 15 weeks. On 11/02/2025, the DWP contacted me again and said I will hear from them by 28/04/2025. Now I don't know whether the DWP have overturned their decision and award me PIP standard or enhanced rate for either component.

Uptil now I have not received a Decision notice letter from the DWP and Monday, 28/04/2025 is the last day to received it. If I don't receive it on Monday, I will telephone the DWP on Tuesday, 29/04/2025 to get update about my Mandatory reconsideration.

Don't take much notice of the dates. You rarely hear by the date they give. It could be months yet. But you can still call and they can let you know if a decision has been made.

The thing is, I applied for PIP on 21/02/2021 and my application was refused. I then apply for Mandatory reconsideration by myself and it was still refused. I then appealed to the FTT and it was refused. I then appealed again to the UT and they said the FTT has made a mistake and they should reconsider their decision. I then appealed to the Court of Appeals and my application for Judicial review was refused, because I don't have any legal representation. I then contacted the South West London Law Centre and they said since I am not working and can't afford the legal fees Lawyers are asking for, I should make a new application and later I will take legal action against the DWP for this my first application. Now the DWP is delaying to give decision on my Mandatory reconsideration letter for this my second application. Will the DWP backdate my PIP to my first application or just from my second application. If they award me for my second application, I will then have to take legal action against them for my first application.

Thats sounds like after the UT, you should have gone back to another FTT hearing.
Sadly you are the victim of a lacklustre system and I expect you have had no legal help on this. :(0 -
That's the predicament I am in now, it is very difficult to get free legal representation and as unrepresented appellant you can present your case effectively without obvious bias. Citizen Advice Bureau said they only help with making applications, MR and FTT. They said they don't help with UT and CoA. It was them who wrote to the DWP for this my second PIP application mandatory reconsideration, so you see now the DWP has taken my application seriously.

Thank you for this. I wonder if they only supply 'old' letters, or whether they also supply current year letters which are needed for claiming 50% car tax reduction? Last time I asked about that I was told the only option was to call, which isn't an option for me.

You can either request a full SAR of all data held against you from the start of your claim and from each and every department, written or recorded, or if you need a specific document or time period you can ask.
I have had full SAR in the past it’s amazing how all those ‘missing documents” appear.

Ok, thank you. I definitely don't want a full SAR. Had enough with the PIP tribunal bundle a few years ago! Although it did highlight the fact that they had my original letter requesting a paper form to be sent without needing a phone call first, which they ignored for so long that I assumed they never got it and eventually had to try and phone for it. (Not possible for me at all now).
For the car tax reduction, they need a letter dated within 12 months as far as I remember. I'm not sure whether that needs to be a new letter or whether they can just change the date on an old one. It'll certainly be worth a try online if I get the opportunity to start driving again. 🙂

I believe you can contact them and request a PA4 form I think it is, it details how they scored you and why, I may have got the name of the form wrong but it's something like that, hope this helps.

You are right about the name of the form. PA4 is the Assessors Report. This is the one we recommend getting if you fail the assessment and have to do a Mandatory Reconsideration.
Just remember that's the form produced by the assessor, so it's not the final decision from the decision maker, which could be different.
