Well Labour lose Runcorn in the by election …..
Here's hoping this is the beginning of the end for Starmer & co …..
Surely there will be rumblings of discontent within the party and questions asked about his leadership !

With Reform snatching victory from Labour by a mere six votes. Given Labour's once comfortable grip on this seat, the result is bound to cause some hushed conversations among party insiders. Of course, ministers won’t admit it publicly, but let’s be honest, there may be many ministers with sweaty palms as they start contemplating their own political futures.

But which way will Labour go? Towards the right to try of get Reform voters back? Or return to a decent one-nation social-democratic party that we hoped for? We don't know when Labour lost. One benefit claiming household could have swung it, a few pensioners could have swung it, but equally hatred for migrants could have won the day. I can't see a good way forward from this morning.

That was what I woke up to this morning 😩It really was no surprise, my City will never ditch Labour, worrying that Reform has that swing in votes, God help us all.
The overall percentage turnout was 32.27 per cent, looks like folk are probably fed up and couldn't be bothered to vote.

Wherever it said that, they're wrong. Every reputable source I checked correctly puts the putative start date for the PIP points changes at November 2026. In fact, isn't it mentioned in the Green Paper?

DWP figures released in response to an FOI request from the Benefits and Work website show how many people with different disabilities and illnesses currently receive the PIP daily living allowance having scored under four points in all categories. They include:
- 214,000 claimants with arthritis – that’s 77% of all arthritis claimants receiving the daily living allowance
- 38,000 with cardiovascular diseases – 62%
- 45,000 with respiratory diseases – 55%
- 38,000 with multiple sclerosis and neuropathic diseases – 48%
- 23,000 with cancer – 33%
- 11,000 with cerebral palsy and neurological muscular diseases – 24%
- 26,000 with psychotic disorders – 23%
The figures also indicate how many new applicants with different conditions would over time fail to qualify for PIP from November next year if the plans are voted through.

I have lived as a non-tourist in very different countries, and I have not had any problems with the local population - maybe because I behaved decently and did not show disrespect for the traditions of the natives?

Well very simplistic approach with me on dcap list of name and shame so went through the list telling them we ate aware you agreeing to benefit cuts ?? And we will remember and not vote for you had loads of replies asking address I said your not my mp just making you aware yh I know you say it's pointless but I don't think it is I know what your saying with pertitions wet signatures hold more wait people can change things history shows that don't become used to what thier proposing psychology they blind us over and over with same subject so we don't even relize we become climatise to it everyone not as passionate so much now same with everything even the most horrific of crimes all the war gaza big marches week after week everything slowly dies down and something else comes along we have 3 weeks what do you suggest yh I know my writing bad I speak better than I write that's for sure

The Runcorn election result is good news for nobody. Reform's gains are also not good for anyone on this forum, unless you are strongly in favour of no welfare state and removal of all employment disabled benefits after four months. Those are Reform's actual policies.
Moving on.
Our Council didn't have a vote. This wasn't because of the mayoral or boundary changes, they voted 2 years ago so it's not their cycle yet. Even if they had had an election here I know it would've stayed a Lab majority. The last time there was a mass drop in Labour council votes, around the time of Corbyn and when people were being silly over Brexit, our Council gained red seats. It gained even more last time. It's been a very long time since it was anything other than red.
We don't have a realistic Labour candidate in our ward and never have had, so all this is pretty irrelevant to me anyway :/ Can't vote for or against what doesn't exist.But I am watching with interest the results in some neighbouring areas. Some good and some bad (from my perspective) so far.
The only positive I can see from Reform winning anything is that there's plenty of time till the election for people to realise they aren't really in it for the voters. Otherwise we are all in for a very unpleasant time come the next GE.
The Tories are haemorrhaging votes to Reform like nobody's business, so a coalition or shift is very likely if this trajectory continues.3 -
Actually we are more intelligent than they believe , we know they are corrupt , we know they want us as slaves . I think this labour government are puppets and controlled , and I think the benefits cuts are to wake people up , most thought labour were going to save us and they are worse than the tories , they must be laughing their socks off at us , they don't care they are cruel heartless and greedy .
