In this world of turmoil, constantly being bombarded with negativity, hate, fears, what do you do to hang on to your Peace and Sanity?

Can we chose to hold on to it?

Hi @itallmakessense, this is a very interesting topic.

I go to my favourite coffee shop for an iced coffee and an almond croissant and read some of my book very early on Saturday mornings before I get on with the rest of my plans for the day! That feels like a pure peace and quiet moment and I look forward to it each week

    What about you?

I am believe it or not starting a partial moderate fast today for 3 weeks! I will have a small breakfast with a glass of water and then a normal 'tea', evening meal, when my wife gets home from work. I'm a practising Christian so this is nothing new to me. I will also spend some time in quiet prayer each afternoon too.

Now, for some people with certain health conditions or struggles around food, that type of fast may not be helpful or even good. But y'know, I've learnt too that fasting i.e. denying oneself something isn't just about food and/or drink, it can be taking a break from routine and particularly to cut something out. Perhaps staying off the internet, or Facebook or not switching the telly on the moment we get up, or sitting on the news channel for hours on end listening to one litany of misery after another! Sometimes we all need to take time out from these and many other things and focus on something else.

I think faith can help bring peace, it has nothing to do with knowing your final destination, I think it's more about knowing we are all flawed yet still loved.

I try to laugh a lot, find joy in everything I can, Love as much as possible, share everything I can, encourage everywhere and every way possible. listen to others problems but remember it's not your job to sort everything.

Definitely. Me knowing God and knowing He loves me helps me understand who I am, warts an' all, so to speak.

That's a powerful question @itallmakessense. There's a lot of challenges in todays world. For me, I try to be conscious of my mental health and how things impact me so I can try to up the amount of good impacting activities such as a walk with friends (especially when they bring their dogs 😆) and reduce things that don't make me feel good.

Things like days out, walks in the country, a coffee with a friend and a drive somewhere can be so fulfilling and good and yet not beyond the vast majority. I live in Liverpool and I'm not a big fan of the city centre particularly although we have lots of tourism for various reasons and there's lots to see and do there. But just outside Liverpool there is Southport, the Wirral and North Wales and the Lake District a little further afield. Sometimes the very best things in life are truly the simplest. A picnic lunch with my wife somewhere off the beaten track, a little walk in the woods, a coffee date somewhere nice is a lovely thing. We'll even take a long bus ride somewhere just for the ride.
