Resignation from permitted work

Hi there

I've been on contribution based ESA in the support group for 18 months. I tried a phased return to my job about 6 months ago and only managed a few weeks before a big relapse but have now been offered a different role just a few hours a week in the same organisation as a reasonable adjustment which I'm about to start as permitted work.

I really don't want to go back to this workplace but felt I had to take the offer up. My question is what might happen to my ESA if I resign from a permitted work job in the future but don't yet have another role to go to? Has anyone any experience of this?

    Because you are in the Support Group there is no expectation that you work. Therefore no penalty if you stop.

    Thanks for responding. I didn't realise it was that simple.

    Will I have to give a reason or just say I'm no longer working?

    If I have to say I've resigned, could this be used against me in future?

    Just say you are no longer working and leave it at that.

    I can't see any reason it would go against you in future.
