edited April 17 in Universal Credit (UC)

Hi I'm Steve and I received a UC migration letter a little while ago and I had no idea about this change. I'm on ESA and I've been given a deadline date of the 22/06 to apply for UC. As I said I had no idea this was happening what should I do.

Thanks Steve

Citizens Advice offer a Help to Claim service, they can support you before, during and after your claim.

you have to migrate. your ESA is going to end so the sooner you do it the better. i was refused because i have too much money. i didnt know that so im loosing a big chunk of my benefits. my payments upped as my condition worsened and now ive been penalised for that

Sorry to hear that you have been refused UC, I don't have much money so I'm hoping I'll be ok. I wish they didn't mess people about so much, it makes my mental health worse can't stop worrying until a decision has been made.m

I had same fear when my uc migration popped through my on the 23/12/24. They knew I would appreciate that Xmas present.

I have difficulty with Internet phone calls receiving and making. They gave me an extension.

I had a honest visit from dwp today and cmht supported me.

I wrote a note in advance explains questions I had, also thanking for visiting my home.

I originally with my social worker made the claim on the 18/3/25 and recorded all calls and took name of agent. Thet kept sending me messages saying to visit job centre for I'd check, I am housebound. So then cmht would have to arrange or social to call uc help line as I had to present. Well thet balls up and claim was closed . So cmht called again and a new claim had to be made.

Because I had recorded taken agents name this was evidence of uc not in compliance of reasonable adjustments.

Visit today this was shown to dwp officer he called someone at the top and my transitional protection was honoured.

Partly was because I recorded and logged all agents names. And a big factor it was cpn and social worker supported with calls played a big factor.

I would advise to do with support through as member mentioned . Or another charity organisation. The uc phone line staff are not really up to date with legacy benefits only uc. So crossing over with migration letter I would do through support from a disability organisation with your situation in favour.

    Good luck hun

Hello Jenny Not yet I've not had the courage to go through the process. I'm assuming something will go wrong with my claim, received a reminder letter yesterday. Will have to apply next week after I get my ESA payment

I've read a few very differing experience people have had with the change over from ESA to universal credit. It seems some have found it an easy process and others have had a great deal of trouble. I'll find out when I make my claim, hopefully it will be fine.

Thanks Charlie not looking forward to making my claim, I've had a benefit check done via citizens advice and have their figures to compare with. I'll be very glad when my PIP review and the change to UC is sorted, no peace until then unfortunately.
