PIP Review/State Pension Age

I was awarded pip until sept 26 with a review anytime from 28th sept 25 which is when I will be sent a review form.

I will be state pension age on 28th jan 2026,i understand that the award will usually become indefinite after reaching state pension age.

If I receive and send the form back by the end of October 2025 that means 3 months till I am of state pension age,so with the backlogs of reviews I am hoping they will just give me an indefinite award instead of a review?

@Carpy you are correct. Once at State Pension age and receiving PIP, your award will automatically switch to an "indefinite" award and "light touch" reviews.

Unfortunately, I can't comment further on your situation or what the DWP will do. I would have thought since your current award end if after your State Pension start date, your current award would just continue! Had a look at the PIP Handbook and you may only get a "light touch" review.

Another person on this forum was in a similar situation, but her condition was a lot worse and was thinking of letting PIP know...

Thanks for that, i have just been looking at the handbook myself, in particular the part with the heading "ongoing awards with a light touch review".

It does say 'on or at state pension age',with the backlog of reviews I will probably have reached my 66th birthday by the time they get around to reviewing my award so fingers crossed.

@Carpy That is exactly where I was reading the PIP Handbook...

    I think so too...
