I really dislike using public transport and I think Aim not alone they are over crowded not very helpful when it comes to disabled people the seats that are reserved for disabled people are usually taken by someone normally the younger end who would gladly like to watch you struggle as long as they are happy and seated people are really selfish nowadays they all want it yesterday and the only care for themselves.

And the taxis are even worse ordered a uber a specialist one for wheelchairs when they turned up they did not have the room to fit the wheelchair and had to wait even longer to finally get a taxi with a big enough boot. Its a complete joke how disabled people are treated and frowned upon.

We are people too and we all deserve a lot more respect.

Aim sure most people on here dread planning a journey because you have to decide what mobility aid to use because of the fear that the reserved seating will be already in use or you cant get your wheel chair on because the area reserved especially for this purpose is blocked because the last bus did not turn up leading to overcrowding and everyone stood down the isles blocking the entrance/exit and still the bus driver keeps letting them on then your stuck especially if you were lucky enough to get a seat only to find that everyone is packed in like sardines in a can and no one can move any where blocking you and your mobility aids in and your requests to kindly ask someone to move turns damn right nasty and unpleasant.

Its about time things were changed for the better this is 2025 not 1825.

More respect and dignity for the disabled.

    Thanks for sharing your experiences @Martzhtfc, you definitely won't be alone in how you're feeling about transport issues.

    Young people who look outwardly healthy may well have their reasons to need a seat too, not every disability is visible. I'd hope that not everyone who doesn't give up their seat isn't doing it for selfish reasons, but I have also been in a position where people don't look up or notice that someone else might need the seat so I can understand that frustration.

    I watched a short video from an accessibility app the other day where a group of wheelchair users needed to travel to get to their office from another location. They couldn't all travel together so they showed the different routes and how long it took each person. Those on the buses took over an hour longer than it should have due to issues getting on and having to switch routes. And this was in central London where you'd think things are slightly better than smaller towns and cities.

    There's still a long way to go before public transport is truly accessible, it's very frustrating sometimes.

    Many thanks for the feedback I live in Huddersfield and find the bus service terrible they always miss and then there's the mad rush to be seated. I not blaming everyone it's just something that gets my goat and you are completely correct about hidden disabilities so I do apologise to anyone that I have disrespected this was not my aim to offend any one.
