Really messed up unspent money

Hi ive talked to a woman at citizens advise today and ive definitely done something wrong I should of been declaring my unspent money they kind of said if I had 764 left in my account that's classed as savings then if I had 764 the month after I shouldn't declare but then the month after I had 684 I should minus 764 from 684 which would be difference of 80 which should be added to my capital =840 how does this even make any sense im not sure she fully understood what I was on about she got more confused the further it went on but said ive never had 6k jn any month on my bank statements but said uc dont work it out like this so she said I could be in trouble for not doing the unspent declaring and the savings account I opened 10 months later she wasn't very helpful I dont think she understood properly xx

I think that you are right and that you have more knowledge than she does. The figures you mention are nowhere near the 6k! I've found with some services that some staff don't like to admit they don't know something. I often call or speak or email another day/week and get a different answer which is more in tune with what I know of the subject. Not necessarily in my favour but bottom line is ask someone else! There may be another adviser/service or perhaps you could email them so you have a record of your query.
You do not have to declare unspent money to UC. If it is 6k or over, you know the answer already. 😀

Sophie. As you have said previously, they only want 4 months statements. If that's all there asking for please stop stressing because that lady did not have your statements in front of her so cannot really give you a definitive answer . We have all told you previously that if you don't have over 6k in the bank you have nothing to worry about . X
