just been diagnosed with Diverticulitis
Hi, I've just been diagnosed with Diverticulitis. The past week has been hellish in terms of how often I've needed to go to the toilet - especially during the night. It's really difficult to get comfortable and sleep with pain, cramping and a burning anus. I've been prescribed antibiotics but my GP said to leave starting them for about 3 days to see if there was any improvement first. There has been a very modest improvement but, normally I feel better in the mornings, but not today! Been on a liquid diet for 2 days now. Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi @GeorgieB and a warm welcome to the community😀
I am going to change the title of your post just so it makes it easier for other people who have experiences with diverticulitis to find so they are able to offer first hand any offer information and support, hope thats okay!
It sounds like you are going through a very stressful time, I hope you find something to help soon. Was you offered any post diagnosis support?0 -
I suffer with diverticular and get flare ups every 3 months. They are extremely painful and debilitating and I am bed bound for a week or so. I took antibiotics for this flare and felt better for a week and now feel like it’s coming back. Would love to know how people cope with this disease and if anyone has found a cure overseas? Thank you
