PIP question, is there any chance of getting PIP?

Hello! I have a question about PIP and hearing loss. I have had bilateral hearing loss since I was very young and I wear two hearing aids, but one is currently broken and I expect the NHS to provide me with two new hearing aids soon. I contacted PIP on March 20th, and on May 21st I got a call from Serco. The phone call was 10 minutes with an interpreter because my English is not very good and I was worried that I would not understand the questions correctly. Isn't it a short 10 minute interview, they only asked me how many hearing aids I currently have, I said I have one because the other one is broken and they asked me if I rely on lip reading. Is there any chance of getting PIP? Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

There is always a chance of getting PIP.

Being realistic though, the information provided in the first post doesn't offer much of the evidence that PIP assessors really need to see.

I think the broken hearing aid may have caused some confusion. It doesn't matter how many you have right now, it matters how many you need - which is obviously 2 in this case. The short amount of time that you have a broken aid shouldn't really be considered by PIP at all.

Trying to look positively though, hopefully enough evidence was provided about how your hearing loss affects daily life & travel that they will be able to award you PIP. 🙂

Thank you for your answer. I am a little discouraged because the health specialist from Serco asked me a total of 3 questions, whether I speak through a speaker, whether I use a heel on my lips to understand what is being said and how many hearing aids I wear. Everything went by in no more than 15 minutes. The whole time I spoke from the car via Bluetooth and with the help of an interpreter, as I was worried that I would not understand the questions. In addition, I explained that I had recently been to an audiologist at the National Emergency Service and my condition had not changed. Severe hearing loss, which does not correspond to my age. For this, I have sent the relevant document along with the form

@Vanina Please also remember PIP is only awarded on how everything affects your daily needs and is based on how you may or may not function.

It's all based on functional needs.
