SCAM?

Not sure where to post but have severe mental health issues amplified by ongoing savings over £6000 case.
Anyway, I just had an automated robot like voice call saying something along the lines of unstamped mail being returned to HMRC. I think there was then some kind of threat and it said press 1 to speak to officer which I did incase it was genuine. No one replied, I just heard voices in background. I'm now worried that by replying they can gain information on me etc. Is this a scam? I have the phone number. I've googled it but can't find anything obvious. Please help. I hate all this.

Sorry to hear this, it does sound like a scam.
If all you did was answer the call then hopefully no harm was done. They would usually ask for your address or bank details etc.
Answering the call might put your number on a list for future scammers to try, so just be careful with any unknown calls over the next few weeks.

Thank you. I both answered it then pressed option 1.
I'm so scared of missed calls etc from hmrc because of savings problem that I raced to answer it.

Hi @aylasnan, i've had a couple of scam calls like this in the past too, i always block them just in case they ring back!

Yes, thanks. I've blocked them and reported them on the gov .uk scam thing. I put what happened just incase it really was them contacting me. Awful these people prey on the vulnerable.
