As we missed National Pet Day on the 11 April 2025 I thought we could have it a bit late and share any photos we have of our pets.

Look forward to seeing yours.

I will start with Sam my kitten.

What a lovely idea, thanks @Bluebell21. I don't have any pictures to share but I was just reading @66Mustang's post on helping bees and it's left me feeling like we should all view all of natures creatures as our own pets and take better care of them. They do such much for us.

I look forward to seeing other people's pets, wild or tame!

Oh they are gorgeous @Hopeless , very sweet. Are they related? Do they ever scrap? Two of my shih tzus, sisters, have a little fight usually at 4pm/5pm each day but not serious thankfully ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿคฃ The black one, their elder brother doesn't he just looks on as if in awe ๐Ÿ˜Š

No, none of them are related though Nala is only 1 month older than Tufty. They donโ€™t really scrap, itโ€™s not the guinea pig way. Waffle as boss pig is very good at manoeuvring her bottom round to block access to veggies ๐Ÿ˜‚

Aw That's so cute @Hopeless . Can't imagine them scrapping they seem like very serene little creatures, just lovely.

Oh they do! Considering they are brother and two sisters (the boy is 9 but same parents as the girls who are 8) they are all quite different in nature. They bring huge joy to my life and mean the world to me, they're my reson d'etre โค๏ธ ๐Ÿ’œ .

    15

    Many are related

I bred most had 2 litters and kept them

Sad thing is it's hard when they pass

I find it very hard to deal with

Oh wow! ๐Ÿ˜ They very clearly mean the world to you. I understand. I wish I could have 15 dogs - I know if any of my 4 had bred I could not have parted with any of the pups.

I lost two in a week and was heartbroken, Tues 12th Jan 2016 my yorkie Jack had to be euthanized he was 15 but on Sat 16th Jan my Matilda (shih tzu) passed away suddenly at the vets on her own. I gave up my job to work for an agency instead so I could go when I was OK which wasn't often! I wasn't going to get any more but then got 4. I found the grief unbearable. Blue Cross helped who have a Bereavement helpline. I took them to their pet cremation and waited to bring each home on the same day. My heart was so broken. I still miss them I've attached a photo of the golden shih tzu, Matilda and my soul dog, Jack, who

came to me at 7 months old from rescue xx PS my black shih tzu Snicket was born on Monday 11th January 2016 so I think he was meant to come to me โค๏ธ ๐Ÿ’œ.

    I'm. So sorry

I've been through so many losses

    It never gets easier

    They dont live long enough

    I. Couldn't part with them

    It wasn't about the money

    It was love

    I. Used to have 20

My kids call me the crazy cat lady

    They just don't understand

I rarely see a single person

    I'm. Alone

That's hard @Amberpearl, I'm also on my own (estranged from two sisters and mum passed away 2.5 years ago), if it wasn't for my tesco delivery each month and monthly medication delivery, I'd see nobody. I don't even have any blood tests due so haven't got that to look forward to ๐Ÿคจ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜….

I do miss going out especially to cafes/cinema and theatre and even just seeing people. One of my shih tzus chunners away when I speak to her, sounds like she's trying to speak. Thank goodness for our pets.

I hope you have a restful day today, your cats look like pedigree cats (I don't know cats really well although we always had one growing up). Yours are exceptionally cute!! Take care xx

I hear you @Amberpearl . I can relate, apart from children as I didn't have any, apart from the canine type!

Do you speak to people on the 'phone? I've rang Samaritans when I'm really low and Mind. And Scope, and the ME Association and the IBS Network (these are closing at the end of June). Lucky my calls are free. Also Age UK, although I'm 'only' 62. They have a Befriending service where someone can ring you say, weekly, but I've not participated in that.

Since I lost my job in 2023, I realise that I spent the first year trying to 'fix' everything and the last year has been many appointments but no fixes (Long Covid and 30 diagnoses). All through it all just trying to adapt mentally and accept which I'm still a work in progress with that!

In the mornings, I say to the muttlets, we're going to have an AMAZING day today (we're usually not but they like the word and the upbeat sound/vibe). I think it helps to lift my spirits too. And music helps but I don't play it everyday.

Anyway, just thinking of you. And all of your lovely cats.

Hi @Amberpearl I am so sorry you have no one to talk to. We are here anytime for a chat. Not quite the same I know. We love to hear about your cats.

    How is your kitten doing?

    Please take care of yourself.
