Had enough.

So me and my mother aren't the most communicative or people, my mother is 75 with health issues, I'm 36 with a myriad of documented mental health issues and so our neighbours have taken our lack of neighbourly communications to heart.
We've been feeding birds since we moved in but what we didn't know or realise that rats have been coming into the garden to eat the bird seed, so our neighbour video recorded it, my mother who didn't realise rats where there went outside and they argued, we got the usual Cornish slur "go back to where you come from" despite myself being born in Truro.
Our neighbour complained to the council, my mother talked to the environmental agency apologising for this and an agreement was made that no bird seed would be on the floor and there's no rats anymore.
So just today another Environmental person has said we've been deliberately feeding rats and has threatened to use legal action. So I lost the plot screamed at our neighbour to leave my mother alone, replied to the the other Environmental Person and re-stated what my mother said.
I'm completely **** off and had enough today, all of the frustrations of the cuts, all of the bashing of people screwed in the head came out today and I took my frustrations out on our neighbour who is loud, drunk and obnoxious. Trouble follows us wherever we go, Cornish people think we're foreigners and I've had enough of the go back to where you come from BS also, they wouldn't dare say that to anyone else.
I have nobody else to talk to, my GP's surgery doesn't take contact via the NHS app past 2PM and I'm not a phone calling guy. I ended up taking a pair of scissors to my arm, breaking the skin and then punching a wall full pelt. Self harm is what happens.

Hi @JasonRA, that all sounds really overwhelming. It's no wonder you're finding things hard today having had someone say that to you. We'll be sending an email today so please just keep an eye out for that.
It's also understandable that you've been looking for ways to cope. I know it might be hard today but please try to keep your injuries clean if you can and get in contact with your GP tomorrow to see if they can help support you.
Is there anything you could do to help you feel a bit calmer in the meantime? I know it doesn't take away all that's happened today, but distractions might help give you a rest from thinking about everything that's on your mind at the moment.
Hope things get easier for you soon

I'm sorry to read of the issues you're having JasonRA.
I suggest you consider getting a bird feeder station (a metal frame to hang feeders from), some hanging bird feeders and a "rat baffle".
Rat baffles are a great invention and completely stopped the rats I began seeing on my feeders.
In the attached photo the rat baffle is the transparent plastic dome halfway up my feeder station.
Lots of styles of rat baffles exist, they aren't expensive and they work perfectly.
Good luck avoiding your neighbour and please don't worry

We also need to put ourselves in the place of neighbours who can be annoyed by bird feeders for several reasons, including noise, mess, and the potential for attracting pests like rodents. They don't even feed birds with proper bird food but all the expired food they want to dispose of.
No one likes to have bird feeders around them. This is a fact, whether we dislike it or not. They contribute to a mess for neighbours, primarily due to spillage and bird droppings, and create issues for those living nearby, particularly if the feeders are placed close to shared areas or buildings.
It's for a reason that a tonne of discussions and complaints come up when you Google "bird feeders and neighbours".
No one living on a shared building or properties should be allowed to feed frigging birds around. All they know is to dispose of their expired food on to birds. You never see them cleaning up the mess which the birds are leaving behind.
There's a very recent thread on this forum posted by a lady who's annoyed by her inconsiderate and rude bird feeding neighbour, to the extent of considering to move out.

Some people are just natural %#%%-ends who get off on complaining. Usually they have nothing else going on in their lives.
Now I'm petty and mischievous, so don't necessarily heed my advice...
Throw a handful of bread or bird seed onto her garden, photograph it and complain to the council. Petty? Yes, but satisfying 😄

hope you had a good moan. Leave nature be. The birds don’t harm anyone.
