Council tax SMI exemption consultation
The government are consulting on various things to do with council tax starting today. One of the things they’re asking about is the Severe Mental Impairment exemption. They are proposing to change the name to Significant Cognitive Impairment and make it easier to claim
‘Title: Significant cognitive impairment
Definition: A severe (and permanent) mental condition or neurological change that impacts on the brain’s ability to function and has a significant impact on an individual’s daily life.’
I don’t seem to be able to post a link to the consultation - sorry - but this is something that could help many of us access this exemption. I’m hoping someone more technical than me can find a link.
