Hi

can someone please tell me if I ask for more time to apply for UC does that mean I will lose my Transition Benefits? I am ESA Support Group. Have PIP.

    Hi,

18th July is more than 3 weeks away. That should be enough time to complete the migration.

You can ask for some extra time if you need to though, you won't lose Transitional Protection by doing that.

    Hi

Thank you for your kind reply. I only have an iPad, don’t have a phone at the moment. I been told I need a phone.

No problem. The mobile phone is only used to receive a code via text so that you can log in online. If you have a trusted friend or relative, you could use their number to start the claim, and then change the number when you get your own phone.

Alternatively you can choose to do a phone-only claim via a landline without needing a mobile phone. If you do it that way, you won't have access to an online account though. You would have to phone up to make any changes in future.

Or should I phone universal credit and ask for more time. My question is would that stop my money ? Thanks any help would be greatly appreciated

    Hi,

You can submit the claim right up to the last day. It shouldn't make any difference to your money.

But obviously it is a risk in case the advice service cancel the appointment or you become too unwell to do it yourself on that day. Asking for an extension might be worthwhile in this case.
