Hi, my name is Christaur1! Awarded PIP, but only mobility. Is this normal?

Hi, I can do with some help please. I've been awarded PIP after a very traumatic process but only basic mobility. Nothing for daily living. Is this normal and what do I do next, as I'm really stressing out right now.

    Hi @Christaur1 and a warm welcome to the community!

    The amount of PIP that people are awarded varies from person to person as it all depends on how their condition affects them.

    If your condition does affect your daily living and you think should've got that component then you can challenge your PIP decision but they do look at the whole award so it is possible that they will take away the mobility element

    You can put in a Mandatory Reconsideration and explain why you should have received the points for Daily Living, detailing how you are struggling and why per descriptor. A Mandatory Reconsideration rarely changes an original decision. As Mary has said your whole claim is looked at again. After the Mandatory Reconsideration and you are still not happy, you appeal. An appeal can take a year or more though.
