What do you mean about " third gear"? Are you referring to travelling in excess of 8mph?

That model of scooter, just like my TGA Breeze S4, it is Class 3 scooter, and designed to be driven on both pavement and road. The maximum speed is therefore 4 mph or 8 mph in the UK.

At the back of scooter there are either 2 wires you have to join together or a switch that will take the speed up to 15mph. I have the greenpower zt4 and the switch on mine is close to the lefthand back wheel

For mobilty scooters this is illegal in UK unless registered under DVLA reqirements and take no responsiblity for information given. Modify at own risk

only today on my local news there was something about someone who has been sued and lost their home as they did not have public liability insurance for their scooter and ran a person from behind. Pedestrian sued the scooter driver and won big time

    Lesson for all

Unless you go o the EU I'd reckon the 'third gear' is disabled to limit the speed to the legal 8mph.. If you have the scooter in Europe it can legally travel at 24kmh
Even electric pedal assisted bikes are limited to 15mph powered speed, otherwise they become motorcycles.. And you'll find this happens with a lot of less scrupulous Uber/Justeats drivers which the cops are cracking down on..

Where i walk Gus, i often see two lads of about 14, they have electric dirt bikes.

I asked them how fast their machines are, and they said they can achieve 60mph! It makes a bit of a mockery of the law, when i'm going along at 4mph, and they are tearing around doing wheelies at up to 60 mph.
